Decided to post both of these in one thread since they are both very minor questions.

1) Given that the Necron release is upon us, and that the model look sweet as, I hoping to run a Necron army along my substandard Tau and my Chaos Marines. However I do not want to do the ever so boring paint them silver/ greyish metal look. So any ideas where I can get some good metalic colours that GW do not produce, such as reds, greens etc. (If need be ill just buy 1 pot of silver and 1 pot of w/e colour from GW and mix em)

2) Given that my main army is Chaos Marines, iv composed a list of 6k points(different to the one I posted on here). However If I paint my Chosen the same as the standard troops I would easily confuse the two units. I would like them to stand out a bit more than the troops but have only 1 idea thus far. Painting the entire helmet gold is viable however I dont think it would look too good. So im looking for other ideas!

For colored metallic colors, I make them myself. Take whatever shade silver color youwish to use and depending on the amount of paint your mixing put add artists ink in any color you wish one drop at a time.

For the paint scheme of the chosen. I would paint the helmet gold, as you mentioned and the possible horns bone white. You could actually model each chosen an horned helmet, in order to distinquish them. Painting some runes in the armour would look chaotic too.
I make different metallic paints by mixing some metal paint with an non-metal one.

I used to use paint as well, but inks will only tint the metal paint which I find to be a plus. The ink is pure color that keeps the metal looking like metal

I wish I had a working camera, I have my friend's Necron army downstairs in the game room. He went with a two tone shiny blue inspired by the look you get from blue anodized aluminum (pic as inspiration)

I think I will more than likely use the wash+silver paint for the colour if the Necrons, possibly a blue or red(illkeep the green to my chaos guys .

As for the chosen ill do a test model from one of the 5 iv got in progress to see how it looks.

For my Chosen i made them look rustier than normal marines, my thinkign was thatthey woudl be olderand more experienced with more battered armour. I did this my doing random stipples of Dark Flesh and Blazing Orange. work a treat. Also, if you plan on giving thema specific mark of chaos, try painting their shoudler pads int he colour associated witht hat god (red for khorne, green for nurgle etc).



For Necrons. I too wanted to avoid the silver plague so i ent with a battered copper look. I based them black, then did a heavy drybrush of Tin Bitz followed by a lighter drybrush of Brazen Brass. Pics are in my gallery.

I am happy with how it came out but i am now regretting doing the monlith in the same scheme as, since the new models have necrons driving, they wont stand out at all.

For the new vehicles i think i will skip the brazen brass stage and just spray black with a drybrush of Tin Bitz.

I did think of giving them specific colours depending on the god they follow, but sadly its a Chaos Glory Icon they would have XD. I do like your reason behind the damanged armour it does give that impression to me aswell. Sadly I like all my models to be "factory fresh".

Also(I dont mean this badly) please take a little more time to read over your post before hitting submit, a fair few words are spelled wrong and some have spaces in the wrong place or no spaces at all.

Hey guys, I took on board the advice for mixing my own metallics, it hasnt went well. I know where Iv went wrong though. Never mix fresh paints in the GW tubs they are way too small XD (lack of common sence here tbh)

However I would still like to know of any places that sell red/blue/purple etc metallics, as then I would have a consistent colour, unless its a case of add 12ml of silver to 12ml of red, thats easy to replicate.

I think reaper makes colored metallics and maybe Vallejo.
As for the chosen for fluffs sake alpha legion is an infiltrating force and chosen can infiltrate so yah, paint them alpha legion.
