Hey guys, first attempt at a conversion, easy basilisk > manticore

I didn't follow any guides so any advice would be more than welcome.

I do like it.

The only problem I have looking at it, is the fact there's many rockets coming from different points of the turret.
Two are side-mounted, so obviously self-propelled which looks awesome.
Then there's one loaded into a battery, but the it's not a shell, it's a rocket. A battery firing a rocket... It seems odd to me o_o'
Also, the smaller rocket in another smaller battery sitting on top of the bigger battery looks strange.

It's just a prospective issue, and totally my point of view. It's an awesome piece ^_^ I just can't see how a battery could fire a a rocket... For one the self-propellant-power of the rocket would blow the battery apart xD

I like it too.

I can see the criticisms Knights-Abhorrent raises and would tend to agree.

However, I'm not terribly familiar with the Bask or Mant models... if nobody had said it was a conversion, your work is good enough that I might not have noticed.

As for your paint, I particularly like the highlights you put on the rivits. I might have chosen a separate color for them from their background, but your highlights seem to suit your work, and they're so well done I can't fault your choice in the slightest.

For a first conversion, this is fine.

I too find it visually confusing - why are some rockets external and others internal? Personally I'd lose the external ones (keep them for another conversion), and update the Bassy gun bits to look like it's a giant missile launcher - i.e. keep the missile poking out the main barrel, add some sort of missile loading mechanism at the back, and turn the upper recoil cylinder into some kind of radar/equipment.

The missiles inside of the barrel, i was going for a tilted missile silo feel, but i can more than see what you mean,


Removing the outer missiles is an idea i will definitely look at it, but the issue i would have with it is that it would remove the manticore look, I think as i go on and collect more, i will gain more rockets, when i do this i may remove the center barrel all together and place several missiles in the center of the barrels braces, to make some sort of a large rectangular missile pod, (without a barrel of course)

Now i look at my bits, i have two missile pods from my Valkyrie that i am not using, it may be an idea to use those aswell but I'm not sure if that would be pushing it on the realism front (makes it look like more than 4 missiles + not really manticorey)
