Bummer that you didn't win the first game and got trashed the second. It seemed like just one of those days. Like when I went to mini-1K tournament recently with a strong list. I then get trashed on game 1, got a bye for game 2 and a draw on game 3. The dice goddess didn't like me much that tournament. Methinks she's been having an affair behind my back with my opponents.
Yeah, game 1 was fixed at 6 turns so I was waiting to take it then and we ran out of time! Ach, that was lame. I would have won.
Game 2, his dang dice were just so red hot. I almost pulled the tie out but you know that feeling when nothing you do works, it gets really frustrating.
Lately, when I see a Battle Wagon wall show up in front of me, I just put down Bjorn, his 2 buddies, the Long Fangs and maybe 2 troop Razorbacks and bring everything else from reserve to try and hit that side armor with as much lascannon goodness as possible.

This is why one of the main reasons I do not go to the Hard boyz tournament or any large scale point tournament.
I want to be beat by an opponent that was the better general than I than to lose a game by the clock.

@Unholy Martyr
I find that in casual games, the KFF doesn't go crazy and I beat orks quite badly, but in tournaments, I have only ever beat Battlewagon Orks once. They always seem to have crazy dice against me with those dang KFFs! haha.
@Adam Longwalker
I was actually playing slower than my opponent in the first few turns. I am not mad at him, it wasn't his fault, I should have paid better attention to time and I would have had the game. Oh well, lesson learned.
I think the dice gods were hating on you Reece. Paul's manticores were doing work. Which is funny because the rest of the tourney they didn't do anything.
Oh and off topic but it was nice to meet you in person!

@Reecus. I should have made my previous post more clearer. May apologies for that. We have had plenty of posts on time limits and sizes of armies and the problems that does happen.
It is the reason I do not go into the GT circuit/large point size tournaments that is going to take time and money to get there, just to lose on a time limit, regardless if I am taking time to think out my moves or other factors into play. I have armies that I so want to bring in such as my Footdar with 100 storm guardians. Neat army to play and can be pretty competitive but I already know that this army will not go in to a competitive environment because of it's high model count. It's going to be a lesser model count army.
I do not want to feel rushed in my movements as you are aware that there is another level of playing when you are in a tournament circuit. Games are won and lost by the amount of concentration to make the right decision at, at the right moment. I lost many of game not because of my opponent playing the time game, but to feeling of being rushed and/or in a situation that I am dealing with person who has his "A" game going with a well thought out army making some interesting maneuvers on the game table in front of me.
That is what I wanted to say.
As far as dice? Heh in my army builds I try to have some sort of redundancy factor added in do to the fact that I will roll crappy. The dice gods are fickle in that way to me.

@huckleberry
Nice to meet you, too! Yeah, luck was not with me that tournament, but oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes. I won three tournaments last month so I really can't complain.
@CT Gamer
No one had a problem with it at all. I kept it quick and as unintrusive as possible.
@Adam
I hear you. I like having more time than needed so that, as you said, in a tough game you have time to think.
My list is ultra redundant, but it didn't seem to help! Haha, the dice just do that sometimes.
@Olympia
Glad you liked it! And yeah, a lot of those tables looked sweet but were lacking LOS blocking terrain.

Ever had opponents take issue?
I don't do it myself, but I've run into a few opponents who did it at big events, and had no problem with it. Mostly because in every case they've made a point of making it FAST. Usually it's a quickie overview for a min or two while we're setting up, and summaries which take less than a minute after each game turn. As long as it's kept quick, I don't mind sacrificing a few minutes of game time for the sake of a guy who wants to make a cool report to post online.
