First of all, thanks for looking! I'm pretty new to 40K and am brand new to painting 28mm minis. My only previous experience was painting FOW (15mm) and that was more of bulk painting, nt quality. I have decided to model and paint my Tau army after the Principality of Zeon from the numerous Mobile Suit Gundam series. My first work are stealth suits modeled after the mobile suit Kampfer. After this squad is finished I will continue on to Zaku themed firewarriors, an HQ Crisis Suit painted and modeled after Char's Commander Zaku II, and drones (whose scheme has yet to be determined). Lastly: This blog should be updated just about every weekend since I go away to college on the weekends and don't have a good camera there. Constructive criticism is very welcome as I will be looking for it and asking questions. Without further adieu here's what I got!

PS- Kroot are my fill ins while I wait for my actual Tau units.

Here are my ideas for the other two aforementioned schemes. Only thing different on the Char scheme is the hands will be gray. It was tough since his Mobile suit is usually portrayed as solid red (kinda bland as it will look like I dunked him) or pink with an almost maroon body (kinda chicky). So I was going for a happy medium. Thoughts? And do you think my drones (that I will soon buy) should be Haros like 7yler's orrrrr should I try my hand at greeenstuff and make them gunballs? Even if you aren't a gundam fan, I still will take any CC.

Ok guys due to finals and then work, I got some done, and finally am able to post what I got done recently. Just a quick note/explanation: The piranha and firewarrior were part of a $2 bits purchase. They were both primed with glossy thick black paint and the piranha had a missing fin. Lastly one of the 2 gun drones was missing the gun mount so I made one out of BT and SM bits.

Looking good! I like the color scheme you have mapped out for your firewarriors. maybe magenta for the eye?

Yeah the pink came out a little more red when I mixed it but it still looked good since his overall color scheme came out dark. Thanks 7yler! I still gotta keep buying more guys piecemeal due to my budget :p

Those kampfers came out great! and I like the colors for the fw, a million times better than the way my first ever fire warrior came out lol

Thanks! It was really just a trial and error sort of thing. Well now I'm gonna work on gluing my spikey bits better on my Kampfer suits. Today they had a mass suicide attempt prompted by our cat and lost most of the spikes. I'm thinking of maybe drilling or cutting a lil bit of an indent or hole so they stick better

Hey everyone I decided to set down and paint with my sis who I introduced into 40K. And I got bored.... Over 80 Kroot staring at me with blank gray and black eyes.... What to do.... So I commenced to chopping and made a Kroot psyker! Counts as a shaper or Merc psyker for any other army. By the way I hope to get up better quality pics later, this was from my Mac cam since the camera bet was dead

That kroot is the definition of awesome...

I love the ideas so far, and alot of the models are done well, keep it up!

Thanks Calv! A lot of people seem to jump over this thread cause "It's another 'Gundam' Tau thread!" But its more like my painting inspiration not making Tau something they aren't. And yes I love how my Kroot turned out since he started as a half baked experiment

I dont really care about what army or if its a "Gundam " thread honestly, I like to see other people's work because they are more likely way better than mine ever could be. XD

A little update: Taking some time off as I don't really wanna look at 80+ Kroot so I decided to work on my friends Space Wolves (not all my painting) and make some terrain.

The Kroot psyker came out really well.

Thanks GiraffeX! I was unsure on how it might look but I think it came out awesome! I really like the OSL though that was very risky as I was kinda flying blind. Not too many people use LARGE OSL like that. But now since it actually came out nicely maybe it will help someone in the future! Lots of layering from dark to light is what I ended up doing with less and less paint along the way.

I would but my camera hates me and I it, that and its actually a video camera first and a photo camera second so its hard until I get a decent one.

I love that Kroot with the lightning. I advise you thin your paints though.

@ Behemoth- Yezzzz we have 2 dig. cameras... Not a huge fan of either as the bats are always dead when I need them not to be. I have found that my mac camera takes passable pics though.
@Norn King- THANK YOU! I think this is the first criticism I have ever gotten! I like feedback as I know I am not a great painter and I always want to get better. I really want to get some good paints as all of my current ones are outfitted by Walmart..... I try to thin them some with a little water but I always have trouble with that... Its rough not having the adequate funds to give your hobby all the TLC you want to. But I guess that just makes me try and do better.
@Everyone- Get ready for a batch of new pics as I am headed back to school (meaning I do more painting for some reason...) and I got a smokin deal on more Tau! soon I'll have around 33 FWs, 10 Pathfinders, 3 Devilfish, more stealth suits (like 5.... seriously people are giving these away) more drones (I got greenstuff for xmas so prepare for gunballs!) and 2 Crises Suits! let the dice roll baby! Here I come gaming tables!

Okay folks! Got my shipment of Tau in courtesy of the friendly nehborhood Dakka Swap Shop! Here's what we got this update! Like I dummy I got excited and snapped pics before the wash :p Also my better pic of my Kroot Psyker doesn't want to upload :p Coming up will be more suits, devilfish, firewarriors, Kroot (dang it over 92 Kroot now!) and lastly the new stealth suits (can you say Z'Gok scheme )

Yup literally washed them as I was uploading the photos. Now they are all washed and I gotta rehighlight. It actually looks battle worn now.

Yup prolly putting them up tonight! Thanks man! I like getting encouragement! The big challenge is gonna be trying to get at least 1000 pts painted in time for Thursday in my scheme. That means a lot of FWs, some pathfinders and prolly more Devilfish! I'd like to play a game to get learning with them too.... Hopefully Thursday that will happen!

A word of advice, take marker lights, and sit back and shoot, except with kroot, they need to outflank and assault. (;

Also you should probably put up a batrep if you do happen to get a game!

Definetly! And yes I will most certainly be taking markerlights! I have enough guys to make a force but seeing as it has more Devilfish than Suits it is not a really goo list. But hey we'll see what happens! I'm gonna be making 3x5 cards with all my rules on them!
