Hello! Some of you might remember me and my Word Bearers Blog, That army is nearly complete so I decided to start up a new project; and jump on a bandwagon of course, NECRONS!

Going through the codex I was curious what I could do for a dynasty theme, I found the tranmission from a imperial colony by the Novokh Dynasty basically being polite badasses (this exists?) to the imperium via an ultimatum. and seeing thier colors enticed my interests as well. Things aren't painted yet but when my FLGS gets more blood red and blazing orange then we'll be right on track!

First question to the internets, WHAT SORT OF THEME SHOULD I ADD TO THIS ARMY?

I WILL BE UPDATING THIS REGULARLY!

Does anyone have ideas on how I can create that red shown from the codex?? I was thinking merchite red, then drybrush blood red, then highlight blazing orange?

Scab Red might be a colour to look at. For the photos try using a none white background as it makes the grey show up more quickly a simple bright sheet of coloured card works great.

My lightbox set comes with bright red and blue backgrounds too! maybe blue.

you don't think scab red is too dark?

UPDATE! I've torn apart the ghost ark!!

It looked too much like a viking longboat, even after cutting the ribbed areas.

I decided to split it in the middle, rip oif the sensor up top. and well now the ark is much shorter and the ribs are in rows of three right above one another!, Pics later tonight (without good lighting probably)

What are my audience's general opinion:

For my Novokh, it seems their scheme is red and some white. Should i paint the armor white while the joints/exposed areas go boltgun? then the marking for rank/type will be the red shown in the codex.

For your lightbox, you really could do with another lamp pointing at a different angle. Have a search around for how to use a lightbox either in the articles here or on google. Daylight bulbs are a must as well (if you dont have them already).

Spray them black, painting metal over white is a pita. Especially dark metal (like boltgun).

It seems like you are asking whether you should switch the scheme around? White with red accents could look cool, however the predominant red also looks badass. At the end of the day its up to you mate, perhaps paint a test model of each?

for my lightbox i got two lamps on either end that came with the set. I also had one smaller desklamp pointing right into the box itself.

Spray black? how could i effectivley paint white that way? grey over primer then white?


Seeing the scheme I think white would be rad for the main armor, but red on the markings seen above and the yeah i've already established that. I'lll paint one of either but regardless i actuallt have no experience what so ever on painting white so help!!

I don't want to go predomonantly red because I have a large word bearers CSM force and am horribly bored with PAINTING red, while it's still my favorite color, so its for rankings.

So its safe to day I'm not sure on scheme's! so you know what? I'll paint three schemes and show you all when i have time!

I was looking at the Doom Ark and wanted to make it look less long boat viking... cutting off those ribs didin't help much so i decided to rip it apart and glue the ribcage part in two levels instead in rows of three.

If you want to blend up you're looking at a base of Scab Red over Chaos Black.

If you want to be somewhat more lazy you're looking as giving Mechrite Red a good couple of washes of Devlan Mud.

I like your alteration of the ark. interested to see more!

Look up "Beetle Bead" "Ladybug Charm" etc on Ebay. You can usually find about 50 beads for $10-20. Mount five per base. Patch up the holes. Done.
