Hi, me and my friend are going to be entering the February Warhammer 40k Doubles tournament that is coming up in February, and we are taking a combination of Dark Eldar and Necrons. I have been a Necron player for a few years now and am currently easing my way into the new codex.

So below is the Necron list that I have produced, central to this is Imotekh. Although he looks a bit expensive for this points level he really fits the army, this is mainly due to Lord of the Storm, as having night fighting in effect will give the Dark Eldar and my faster units chance to move up more safely and the fact that DE also have night vision is really helpful. The 4+ init sieze against everything but Orks is helpful too.

I think it is an interesting list to take to a doubles tournament, I would however, switching the weapons on the Immortals to gauss blasters. I don't think the tesla rule is a better choice than ap4, rapid-fire, and gauss. I haven't play tested with tesla carbines yet, so they may work out better than by first glance, but I think the rule would just be much more worth it is it triggered on a 5 or a 6.

Don't bring Imotek if your not going to bring someone with Solar Pulse so you can see on your turn to fire at a distance with. Your better off getting an overlord with a barge and someone who has Solar Pulse. Side not on the Scythe you may want to run another doomsday ark as that model is out now unless you plan on scratch building doom scythe.

I think that it is a good idea to have a Cryptek in the army, but as you have to have an Overlord to include a Cryptek anyway, I think it might as well be Imotekh because of all his awesome special rules. He may be expensive, but his initiative seizing on the 4+ is really good, especially because I don't want my Dark Eldar getting shot to pieces on the first turn. What do you think about Imotekh and a Cryptek with Solar Pulse?

Take a few scarabs away and go for The Cryptek with Solar Pulse. Get your alpha strike and lightning and good chance at going first.

I agree with that- I think it's a good idea. One squad of Scarabs should be enough to do their job- they should be able to get in unmolested when the enemy units are tied up with my Dark Eldar. Do you think we should have a Cryptek in one Immortal squad and then Imotekh in the other? That would give them some protection as they advance.

Possibly with only squads of 5 it will definitively be tough going to get across because those squads are so squishy.

Also, I think tesla carbines and gauss blasters both provide different qualities, so perhaps it would work if one Immortal squad had the gauss blasters and the other the tesla carbines. Or are gauss blasters considered vastly superior to tesla carbines in everyone else's opinions?

Perhaps if we got rid of the Doom Scythe, as it could be a tricky conversion or scratch-build, and used the extra points to boost up the remaining Scarab squad and the Cryptek? Do you think that would work?
