Kinda hard to see shade/highlights with the stuipd flash on my phone, but i'd like some suggestions or constructive criticism for the rest of the terminators i'm going to be painting.
Thanks, JT

the Mothership...

Your pic (even after you click it) comes out tiny and the same size as the thumbnail. I'd recommend posting the full size pic to dakka's gallery and then copying the line that says "forum link" or some such and pasting that into the message.

Somewhere.

I'd try a wash over the top to bring out some of the detail. It's a cheap and cheerful trick that also tones it down, but you might need to thin it a bit or it'll stain the armour too dark. Otherwise, not bad...you have all the paint in roughly the right place

I should mention I'm not the best artist out there, but yes, it's what I do. It's really noticeable, especially on the golden writing bits, how much detail is brought back out.

I would suggest highlighting and washes.
Grab Asurmen Blue and Lethavian Purple.
Put the Purple in the shadowed areas. The Blue in the areas to convey light. Done well It looks great.

Probably work

Also if you have some gryphonne sepia or badab black to wash the gold "rune" areas in the shoulderpads, it will help bring some of the detail out there. Badab black gives it a much darker recessed tone, while several layers of sepia gives it what I would describe as an 'antiqued' look, like what you see in jewelery.

The colour of the SBolter needs to appear elsewhere on the model.

Otherwise, it simply looks out of place.

Just checked your new picture. I still feel like you need that wash, especially in the loincloth.

If you'll forgive my hi-jack, I'll show you what I mean:

Take a look at that, particularly the fabric on the legs. You see how it's got sort of a shadowed effect in the creases? That's what a wash will do for you. I'm guessing you used Kommando Khaki on your fabric? I used that as the base on the guy above. I then washed it with Gryphonne Sepia, heavier in the crevices, and then I hit it with a bit of Khaki on the portions that should get more light (the outside of the crevices) and then finally I hit the spots that should look the absolute lightest with Deneb Stone. It takes some practice, but Gryphonne Sepia is probably going to be the best wash to go with for highlighting anything in sort of a cream/tan/bone color range.
