Been Around the Block

Our heroes range is expanded this month with a new Daemon: a Herald of Pestilence.

This new Daemon has been designed and sculpted by Felix Paniagua.

The miniature comes with a 25mm plastic square base and a little daemon slave emerging from…

Really hope you like it!

It's good for what it is. But when I see it I think Nurgle, that being said it falls short. How about a pestilence figure who's not all bloated, but otherwise pestilency....because let's face it the "Great Unclean One" has been done to death by many companies for years and years.

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

It's nurgle, it's supposed to be gross..

That's actual like a baby version of the GuO, kind of impressive on a small base.

Mini nurgle. It is a fun model like most of the AoW.

You're not meant to think 'Nurgle'. They're not specifically for Warhammer.

A very nice model with opportunities to use in daemon armies for both warhammer games.

True although another counter argument is that do you really expect AoW to make something radically different compared to warhammer? They make great pieces but all of them fit very well in warhammer (sometimes they're even better than gw kits such as the dwarf beserkers)

It's a fat, bloated plague demon with a single horn and a triangle of skulls hanging from a chain. If you actually believe we're not meant to think "Nurgle", I've got a bridge to sell you.

I'm pretty sure GW weren't the first company to do fat, bloated plague monsters.

I'm not saying they don't fit well into Warhammer. I use a vampire countess from them myself.

And all I'm saying is it would be a breathe of fresh air to see some originality. I like just about everything AoW puts out. As stated before I think this model is good for what it is. But it's not that the models are not well done, but this model is ounce for ounce GuO's little brother. How about they pull from the idea hat something we haven't seen before instead of trying to build a better mousetrap.

It's kind of hard to not think "Nurgle" when it looks just like "Nurgle".

For all the people that "hate" Games Workshop, there sure are a lot of people trying to make a buck off of them.

I'm sure gw being one of the largest markets of wargaming has nothing to do with it

Nurgle is always an excuse for bad models. Sadly this is in that category. Which is a shame as I love every other AoW model out there.

I just despise all things nurgle.

Its not "ripping off" if its "generic enough"

Besides the entire drama over that one company, I only know one item got canned for being too GW like (I think a plague greater demon or something from Ultraforge)

GW apologists and loyalists will do what they do. I find it funny when people White Knight for a company that couldn't give a rats ass about them.

But you know what? I don't have a problem with that, apart from it not being a product I'd ever be tempted to buy. I do have a problem with you being obtuse about it.

And is that the only reason to do anything? The hope of reward from your masters? Can't we strive beyond such lapdog morality? Are we not men?

How is NOT defending a company that looks for new and creative ways to screw over their customers lapdog morality?

I never said GW should reward those who defend it to the death. I said that GW doesn't care about them. GW doesn't care if someone defends them on a forum. GW cares about the bottom line and little else. I see no reason to defend such a company. Yes I play their games, yes I buy their models, no I don't like them as a company. As much as I love WFB, I'll never defend a single thing GW does under their current mantra.

Just to digress back on topic, I think that's a crap miniature. It's blobby, uninspired, insipid and utterly void of merit. Technically adequate, but utterly without soul or originality. Banal and overwrought to the point of nausea.

When did I say I spend "a lot" of money? I buy second hand when available, and when I must buy new product it's from a third party retailer at 30% off. I give GW as little money as I possibly can while still enjoying the game.

And "I don't like" =/= hate. You draw some crazy lines of thought.

Meh. Nurgle is too easy to do when it's just blobby guts. I was hoping to see more of a wandering carnival plaguespreader type figure when I hit the link. Points for the nurgling that seems to be climbing out of its rectum I suppose, if you like that sort of thing.

Its a good looking model, it fits wells into a deamon themed army of whatever type.
And most of the posters here make me wonder why this site is so popular sometimes.
Agamemnon you sound like you just like using big words, you criticisms are pointless and add nothing to the conversation. Sounds like you just flunked an art appreciation course.

AoW stuff is usually quite good. This is... uninspired is about the best word I can use for it. I'd prefer something a little less blobby and a little more starved and wiry.

Aerethan wrote:When did I say I spend "a lot" of money?

You didn't, but Locky still thinks that everyone who 'hates' GW also continues to spend heaps and heaps of money on them. It's a very large (and single-colour) brush that he likes to paint us with. Luckily the paint itself comes off easily when you wash it with a little logic.
