Hi my fellow Dakkites

I have made this model, and have painted it (approx 60% complete), however I need a lil' inspiration on the colour of the axe weapon in its right-hand (eg. a power weapon blue, with ice blue edge highlight, etc?).

Also I'm not sure the 'warp smoke' from the Thousand Son works completely, any ideas on how to make it 'pop' more and look more threatening/demented?

I'd have to say gold, to separate out the colours a bit more, whilst keeping it in scheme with the rest of the model. Very cool looking model btw!

Wow that is one of the coolest Daemon Princes that I have ever seen! Keep up the good work. Maybe you could get a slightly greyish white to dry brush the smoke very VERY lightly? Also how did you create the warp smoke?

Thanks, the smoke is pretty simple to make really...

I initially started by making a 'wigwam' frame out of 3 bits of varying length of sprue, so these were glued to the base then glued at the point where all 3 sprues crossed.

I then glued my Daemon Prince (after assembling everything but the head) together, and after the glue dried I then glued the model to the frame.

I then assembled my Thousand Son and glued him in the right position on the base

Now I broke up some modelling flock into smaller pieces, and using some hobby glue on the frame and base I applied the flock to the glued areas.

At this point I mixed up some PVA with water (3:1 ratio) and applied this glue mix to some more flock and attached it to the flock on the model's frame and base, I then progressively added layers of the glue mix and flock to build up the 'smoke'

HOWEVER each layer was given a half day/full day to dry before next layer was applied

Finally once the 'smoke' reached its satisfactory thickness/density, a final layer of water-PVA is added to give the last layer of flock more solidity

After a couple of days I then applied the black spray basecoat (Chaos Black Spray Can) as the paint then added more to the flock's firmness

Ta-Da!!!!

Smoke achieved
