Hey guys. I'm entering a tournament in february (my first), and I need help with the last 100 points. I think I have a solid 1750 list, but I just can't figure out where to put the last 100 points. This is what I have so far:
HQ- Vulkan He'stan- 190

Elite- Assault terminators (7 strong)- all hammers and shields- 280
Elite- Dreadnought- Assault cannon, Heavy Flamer- 125

Troops- Tactical Squad (10 strong)- Flamer, Lascannon, SGT power weapon, Rhino- 230
Troops- Tactical Squad (10 strong)- Meltagun, Missile Launcher, SGT Chainsword, Rhino- 210
Troops- Tactical Squad (10 strong)- Meltagun, Plasma Cannon, SGT Power Weapon, Rhino- 235

Heavy Support- Thunderfire Cannon- 100
Heavy Support- Land Raider Crusader- Multi-Melta- 260
Heavy Support- Predator- Autocannon, Side Lascannons- 120

1750 total

I generally run a gunline army. The first two tac squads will generally combat squad with the heavy weapons staying behind and shooting with the pred and TFC. My termies+vulkan ride forward, screening for my 3 rhinos, while the dread moves up the flanks.

So I have exactly 100 points to play with. I just can't decide what to put in. I can't fit in any more termies, because vulkan is riding with them, so they won't all fit. I thought about putting my guys in razor backs, but in killpoint missions, I wouldn't want to combat squad them, so in those situations they wouldn't be able to fit in the metal bawkses. I could put in a bare assault squad (I could lose some wargear to give them a flamer or something) for counter assault purposes, but I feel like a small squad like that would be easy pickings.

And for that guy who says this, I will not entirely fill my list with melta and flamer just because of vulkan. I like to have a mix of weapons, and quite honestly I run vulkan because I like the salamanders, not the other way around.

I'd suggest podded Stern Guard, just a matter of finding the extra points.

I'd drop one of the termies and get another auto/las predator (the Land Raider is a DT).

Though I don't know why you wouldn't make the AssCan on the dread into a Multi-melta.

Alternatively, drop both power weapons on the tac squads and buy the auto/las pred.

of course it its I totally forgot about that. I like the assault cannon on the dread. It has more shots, and I believe at >12", it is actually better at penetrating armor than the MM (thanks to rending). At least thats what mathhammer says. Its just better against a wider range of targets, and isn't very expensive. I'm probably going to drop the flamer from him, I never end up using it.

I think I will drop off a termie for the auto/las pred. How's this:

Vulkan- 190

Assault termies (6 strong)- 240
DT- Land Raider Crusader- MM- 260

Dread- Assault Cannon, Heavy Flamer- 125

Tactical Squad (10 strong)- Flamer, Lascannon, SGT Power Weapon, SGT Combi-Flamer, Rhino- 240
Tactical Squad (10 strong)- Meltagun, Missile Launcher, SGT Power Weapon, Rhino- 225
Tactical Squad (10 strong)- Meltagun, Plasma Cannon, SGT Power Weapon, Rhino- 230

TFC- 100
Pred- Autocannon, Side Lascannon- 120
Pred- Autocannon, Side Lascannon- 120

1850. That look good? Gives me more armor on the table, and all my tacticals have a power weapon. I actually put into excel that one of my meltaguns was 10 points, so I had 10 extra points left over, so I gave my one sarge a combi-flamer, seemed like the best place to put it. That way if that combat squad has to charge into anything, I put down 2 templates before hand.

Anything else you guys see? Otherwise its time to go shopping.

I have seen land speeders and such added into these types of vulkan lists to put quit pressure and folks and get vehicles popped for the flamers etc.

The enemy of my enemy is a bastard so lets kill him too.
