So I've decided that in order to keep me motivated, I'll start a painting blog to show what progress I make each day. First up will be pics of my High Elves as they currently stand. I still have a lot of work to do on them, but I've been pulling late nights this week to try and plow through some of the tedium of painting armor on 75 infantry.

First up are my characters; Radiant Gem Prince, Archmage, Mage, and Battle Standard Bearer(Caradryan is with the PG pic)

Next up are my core choices.

This first unit of spearmen is 90% done, just need to detail skin, highlight bases, add the banner and paint shields. I'm quite happy with how they came out(despite some gritty priming)

My second unit of spearmen, using the opposite color scheme from unit 1. I airbrushed all the armor at once to save me countless hours of hand brush work. Still a long way to go on this unit.

My Archer unit. Decided to use red as the main color as large surface areas of white are a royal pain in the ass to paint. I'll probably work on these last out of the entire army. Still need proper bases added.

Next up are the special slot units. I plan on adding a unit of White Lions to this when I have money for them, as well as buffing the Swordmasters up to 14 or 21.

Firstly are my Swordmasters, 95% done, just need to highlight skin, fix the hand on the banner, do gems, highlight bases and shade their hair. I'm quite proud of how they turned out.

Here are my Phoenix Guard, led by Caradryan(who is 100% done). Airbrushed the cloaks white(which sucked) and then hand painted all armor areas black and am now doing the silver parts with VMA Chrome. Since the gold scale armor has to be painted scale by scale, this unit will require the most time to complete.

My Dragon Princes. I may drop these models in favor of the newer ones as I don't have shields for them. Work on them is at a stand still.

And not pictured are my 2 great eagles which aren't primed yet.

When my camera stops eating batteries I'll post a set of my Dark Elves as well. Working on 2 armies at a time really takes it out of you.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here are my wifes Dark Elves that I'm painting. She chose the color scheme for them. All in all a fun army to paint.

First up is the not so black dragon and dreadlord. This will end up being the last thing I work on as it's only for 2500 point games. Thank God for my airbrush!

Next up are my foot characters. An Avatar of War sorceress, GW sorceress, kitbashed Lord/hero with shield, kitbashed BSB and kit bashed Assassin.

For core I use 2x 20 RXB's with shields(which aren't painted yet). My airbrush saved me countless hours on the chainmail and breastplates. Each unit has opposite colors to distinguish themselves from the other.

The spearmen unit, not much to say here, same techniques as the RXB's with an airbrush and all.

My kitbashed Dark Riders, used Glade Rider horses and legs, DE Warriors from the waist up.

Here are the kitbashed Harpies. Used Daemonette bodies and heads, Tyranid Gargoyle wings.

Some shades, nothing special about them.

The Cold One Knights. Had a lot of fun painting these, they were the first DE's I had painted. The gold on these is Vallejo Liquid Gold

The Black Guard. Wish I could take more than 20 of them. The gold on these is Vallejo Liquid Gold.

The Hydra. Airbrushed this one as well, still a ways from finished though.

I have 2 methods of doing white. Firstly none of my models are primed black. All are primed gray.

For the white on my spearmen and most characters I start with a solid base of Astronomicon Gray, then I use VMA White which takes several layers.

For Teclis and the cloaks on my PG, I primed gray and airbrushed VMA white which still takes a few passes to get solid coverage.

White is easily the single hardest color to paint, and I still struggle with it.

Here's an update for the second week of December. Worked on the AoW sorceress a bit and detailed the shades, started basing as well. Let me know what you think.

Aerethan, there are some really great models here. I was wondering by chance if you would be able to paint Chaos Dwarf Hobgoblins, Night goblins, in a certain scheme for commission?
