Alrighty, since my Reaver Titan is almost done, and I don't have any more large projects on the go until the girlfriend gets her Eldar titans, I need a project. It would also be benificial to have something smaller to work on so I can bring it with me over the holidays.

Heres a list of what I currently have on the go:

Vostroyan Firstborn+conversions (1 model painted, about 100 to go, plus eventual armor)
Tau (50 odd kroot, pathfinders, custom hover broadsides, stealthsuits and tanks for apocalypse)
Hawk Lords 4th company (30 assault marines left + command squad)
Dark Angels (40 or so veterans, a land raider, and some deathwing)

So my question to you, wonderful readers (you are wonderful, because you are reading this) is simple; what should I do next?

And since no blog update is complete without some photos, here are some examples of what I am considering painting more of

PS: I have not done a single base yet, so that would be part of my work on whichever army is picked.

Ok, I did a bit of painting over the christmas holidays, and wrote a bit of fluff on the vostroyan 206th regiment.

The Vostroyan 206 regiment has an unusually high number of commissars. The most obvious reason for this is because 206th has a very high number of human abnormal attached to it. Ogryn/ratling heavy weapon squads are seen as unorthodox, but effective. Unfortunately, the primitive nature of ogryns, compounded with the secretive and “light-fingered” attitude of ratlings can create an abrasive regiment relationship. Furthermore, the relationship that develops between said ratlings and their ogryn “protectors” has lead to instances of extortion in the regiment, with ogryn “enforcers” carrying out their diminutive partners wishes.
An exceptional brand of officers was therefore necessary to control the potential gang-settings in this regiment. Commissariat specializing in abhuman discipline were assigned to the regiment, and humans with above-average rapport with abhumans are generally given promotion to oversee heavy weapon squads.

I am becoming a big fan of nmm, so I think I am going to try to do all of my vostroyans in a nmm paint scheme. Takes about 3 times longer to paint a single model, but I think the end result is worth it.

Needless to say, the comms guy #2 (standing) isnt done yet.
Also, a load of dudes!
(17 lasgunners, 3 comms, medic, 6 veterans, 5 heavy weapons, and 8 commissars)
I am hoping to finish 3 chimeras, a forge world hellhound, a manticore, 18 conscripts and 8 special charactors like snipers, some more commissars, priests, etc by the end of this week. More likely I will get the conscripts and vehicles done, along with some space marines, because I like to take a lot of time on the special guys.

So, I havn't painted in a while: I was in a construction accident at work and almost lost my hand, and it has taken this long to get it back into a state where I can paint again. Howver, now my doctor says it would be good for me to get back into it, so I will! Updates may be slow, depending on the amount of pain I am in (and me getting married in 2 months) but I'll do my best!
My first major project is, well, everything! Top of my list is relighting and redoing parts of my reaver, I have a vostroyan army I am slowly expanding, and I want to do an armies on parade display for the local games store by the end of the month. After my vostroyan are up to date (hopefully by the end of summer) I want to do some new bases for my 4000+ pts of tau, and since I like snow, I am doing a company of Dark Angels with snow bases (half terminators, half robed veterans with some ravenwing thrown in).
I also want to help the fiancee work on her Eldar army, doing basing/undercoating for who knows how many models (she has over 100 guardians alone, and just fielded 4000pts against me last weekend without breaking a sweat). Check out my other posts for updates on eldar or titan goodness, and thisone for vostroyan and space marines. I might include my tau here, but since there is so many of them I think it might warrant its own post.

Without further ado, here are some photos of what I am working on for the armies on parade

Ok, heres the board so far. Painted the pink black, then based with medium sand followed by drybrushing grey. Then added snow. A lot of snow. Mounds of snow. More snow than I have ever used before, and its still not enough.
Don't mind the tanks, they are there for scale. I will post pictures of them in the next couple of days.

Woot! Update! Been busy preparing my Army on Parade, with decent results. Entered the competition in Ottawa, and took second place with my Vostroyan.
Funny story though; I entered my Vostroyan thinking that I was unlikely to have to compete against another Vostroyan army, and lo and behold there was another Vostroyan army that took first! Voting was pretty typical (3pts for first, 2 for second, 1 for 3rd, with everyone picking their top 3) I was awarded 80pts, with the first place Vostroyan at 83pts.

If you are interested in seeing more photos, head on over to the Bayshore Games Workshop facebook site:
https://www.facebook.com/#!/GWBayshore/photos_stream

Next work is 2 vostroyan Leman Russ (1 of each kit) and a manticore. I have some odds and ends to work on before I reach the end of my imperial guard stockpile, (mostly independents, comissars, priests, etc) but I think I will save them as "rewards" for completing other models.
Not sure what to do after that: do I move on to work on dark angels, or do I work on my tau? Dark angels work includes a fighter, 30 terminators, and arms for my 30+ veterans. My tau is a massive project: 200+ water bases, a dozen tanks, 100 kroot and more.

Opinions? Talk to me people!

Somewhere just South of nowhere

I used pink insulation foam from a hardware store (the blue stuff is supposed to be better, but I couldn't buy single sheets of it. I cut approximate sizes with a knife, then glued them together with wood glue and toothpicks. For cutting, I used a hobby styrofoam cutter (basically a hot wire on a stick: looks similar to a dremel or wood burning kit) and did a bit of sanding since the melting plastic left little whispy bits.
I then based the entire thing in black craft paint (2-3 layers, since its essential to get full coverage)
I screwed up a bit with the roadway: I based it black, when I should have done a grey or white. I wouldn't have had to use so much snow that way.
Anyway, I started mixing white into my black basing paint, drybrushing the sides of the mountain. I then based the flat surfaces with medium gravel (not really essential, but I never said I knew what I was doing at the time).
Finally for snow, I mixed woodland scenics snow effects in pretty much equal parts with white glue, and added about 1 part white paint for every 10 parts glue. I should have added a bit more paint though: the more paint you add, the less see through it is. I made the snow stuff a little runnier for the parts near the ledges (about toothpaste texture), and let it run down the sides a bit. For snowbanks, I made the mix closer to putty. Used popsicle sticks to ladle this stuff on until I was satisfied.
All in all, I used 3x30oz containers of snow effects, although most of that was on the roadway and I could have avoided it by painting the basecoat white and using more white in the snow mix.
