Hey guys! Some you may know my Ultramarine Blog (link in sig). I've had a lot of fun with Ultras and will certainly keep going on them. But for now i'm taking a break and making a 1750 point pure GK army. This is the list:

HQ:
Grand Master (Blind, MC Psycannon, MC Sword,) = 235

TROOP:
10x GKSS (Rhino, MC DH, 2x Psycannons) = 275
10x GKSS (Rhino, MC DH, 2x Psycannons) = 275
10x GKSS (Rhino, MC DH, 2x Psycannons) = 275

ELITE:
7x Paladins (Apoth, MC DH, 2x MC Psycannons, BBanner, DH, 4

Halberds) = 540

HEAVY:
5 man Purgation Squad (4x incinerators, DH, razorback) 150

1750

I'm guessing this blog will kick off properly around christmas time. But for now i've done 2 test minis for the upcoming models! Enjoy!

Here are two test models I did up using spare parts from a GK kit I used for kitbash with my ultras a while back. This is the scheme I am aiming to achieve, quick but good looking from a distance. I like the depth on these guys, really looks like they've been fighting demons Hope you think the same! Tell me what you think:

Whats up guys, in anticipation of recieving a few more GKs at Christmas, I dissassembled and reassembled and repainted and repositioned all of the various GK parts from the box set I got a while ago upon the GKs release, and made a Justicar. He is what I invisage the rest of the army to look like, I can't wait to have more progress for you guys, see you soon! Feedback appreciated.

Are you getting a dreadknight? Because I'm dreaming of all of the amazing conversion work you could do

Hmm, yes the Dreadknight...we'll see its good because it works for competitive play too so isnt a waste of money haha I might pick one up sometime, in the meantime if you want some converted dreadknight eye candy, check out Knightleys, I got the honour of seeing it in real life. It's amazing

Death-Dealing Ultramarine Devastator

Scotland

Very nice, I much prefer the duller gunmetal-coloured armour to bright shiny silvers (bright silver reminds me of high elves, and I loathe high elves). The darker colourmakes them look grittier and more serious, which I think is much more appropriate for a grimdark setting.

A few questions about your army list:

First off, why has the Grand Master got psybolt ammunition? He can't use it if he's got a psycannon, ad he doesn't confer it to any squad he joins, so it's 5 points wasted.

Next up, your Purgation squad: how will it keep up with the rest of the army? Your Strike Squads are all mechanised, your terminators can deep strike, but your close-range flamer chappies are going to have to slog it on foot, all the while being an easy target (unlike, say, the Paladins, who can shrug off a fair bit of fire). Have you considered dropping a few upgrades to free up points for a transport for them as well? If you lost the redundant psybolts and the GM, and took off master-crafting on everyone's weapons, you'll have 45 points to spend on either a Rhino or a Razorback. Something else you might consider is using the squad not as a Puragation Squad, but as a Purifier Squad: for only 20 points more you get an extra attack, Fearless and most importantly, the Cleanisng Flame psychic power, which is pretty neat.

The change from Purgation to Purifiers is a matter of personal taste of course, and would mean having to squeeze an extra few points out of you list (easiest way I can see would be dropping the servo-skull or Rad grenades, but both of those are pretty good), but is not nearly so important as buying a ride for your incinerator squad: there's little point having a close-range but combat-ineffective squad like that if it can't a) move fast enough to close with the enemy and b) keep up with your other units to prevent itself being isolated. Having re-rolls on some of your weapons is neat, but I'd much rather have another unit to help overwhelm the enemy with firepower than a handful of re-rolls each turn.

"I reached down through my trousers, and groped for something concealed in my sock... it was my foot."

I lurk, therefore I am. DOOM DOLPHINS!

Hey guys! I'm still on holiday and won't be back until new years eve, but I was able to find some plastic co-operative superglue at PaperPlus (book/stationary store) and a craftknife and I built my GKSS! I'm really pleased with how they came out, and can't wait until I get home to paint them, then soon after i'll get some Termies and another box of the lads! WOOOO!

Also, in terms of the new list, it's hardly new, just revised. I switched out a few bits and bobs and squeezed in a razorback for my purgation squad, what do you guys think?

LDP

*EDIT* Sorry didn't realise how blurry the squad pic was...oh well
