So in the coming months, much to my delight, there is a few Storm of Magic tournaments coming in my area, and I want to be involved with them. I want to hear feedback on what good item/scroll combos you all think would work well.

The tournaments will be 3000 points, so I have 750 points of goodness to play with. And generally my DE lists are fast-cav and monster focused even in non-SoM games. For SoM, I'll be sitting with 2-3 sorceresses, a Lord on a Dragon, hydras, Dark Riders and Witch Elves as a starting point. With BSB and Cauldron as well. I'm okay with that aspect of my list for the most part, but mostly want ideas on what do roll with for my extra points.

In other games, I've tended towards a Dawnstar Sword on my Dreadlord, a Truthsayer (lore of Life) and some flavor of Dragon to support my heavy stuff. I admit to a love for a helper Chaos Dragon, as the multiple breaths can really wreak havoc on troops and fulcrums alike.

Can I see your army list as it stands? Sounds like a lot of stuff crammed into a small army.

Any why would it be 2250 plus 750 SoM? 2250 is a nearly dead list size now that we have percentages to deal with(and 25% of 2250 is 562.5 which can cause problems).

As for the SoM portion, I don't own the book and have no experience with it so I'm no help there. Mostly interested in seeing your DE list.

Ah, you misunderstand me.

It is 3000 SoM, which means 3000 of the base army, plus 750 of SoM stuff. Sorry, the local lingo here is to not include the extra points in how big the game is.

Anyway, as far as my usual 3k list (this is off the top of my head, some specific items/etc may be missing, and I don't want to go get my codex):

Dreadlord (black dragon, PoK, Ogre Blade)

Sorceress (lvl 2, dispel scroll/tome of furion)

Death Hag BSB (ASF banner)

Death Hag Cauldron

5 units of 5 Dark Riders w/ RXB

1 unit 12-14 RXBs

40 Witch Elves (full command, and a rotation of magic banners)

10 Cold One Knights (full command)

2 Hydras

Ah, thank you for the clarification. How do you find the horde of WE working out? I haven't used them yet(and sadly the models for them just don't tickle my fancy).

WE horde is scary when fighting another giannt horde. I play one every time I fight DE

Properly supported (ASF and the Cauldron) they are nigh-unstoppable. They pretty much vaporize anything they can get the charge against through sheer volume. They have a little problem with armored targets (though I try to get them an Armor Piercing banner for the unit standard to help a bit with that), but generally can be counted on to put out so many wounds that they can still reliably win combats.

The only thing that has stopped them dead in their tracks has been a horde of 18 Chaos Trolls (and I had no flame banner >.< ).
