Hello,
Several weeks ago i posted an ork army list (green tide) and the good fellows at DakkaDakka explained that i would have a great deal more success were i to run a Kan Wall list instead (i tend to play against Wolves & Angels).
Having 3 Kans (thank you ebay) and needing many more to run a Kan wall i decided to make them myself. I write this waiting for the glue to dry. But i figured i would post a few pictures here for people to give my there thoughts on them. Please take in mind these are my first attempts ever at making Kans and my ego is hanging by a thread at the best of times. Be gentle.
that aside i would love to hear ways to improve or just generally better ways to make Kans.

Plus will i be allowed to use these models as Kans within a GW store (which is where i play all my games) as not counting the Warlord titan CCWs these models contain no GW items. Will that be ok, or cause a fuss, i dont want to cause a fuss i like the store but funds are an issue.

thanks again.

Unfortunately you aren't likely able to use these in a GW store as most of the time they require you to have at least 50% GW pieces on your models. That being said store managers are all different and you may be able to get away with it in friendly games.

Hard to tell from the pics but they look very similar in size so that is a plus.

Once you clean up the glue and give the 'models' a prime of black they will look pretty good. With a good paint job I would have no issues if you fielded them vs my army. Nice work for your first try.

Maybe consider adding some 'toes' to the legs so the don't just look like disks. Also, slots in the front for the driver to see out of. As well as some more plates and bolts to give it a more realistic look.

Great work but I have to say they still need a little more detail to be considered playable at a GW. You will also need to base them to play.

Hot glue is almost NEVER a good idea on your models. It doesn't hold non porous items well, doesn't hold paint, and is just plain messy and dangerous.

Try pins and either model glue or super glue depending on your material.

What are these made out of by the by? They look a decent shape!

Hello,
The materials I used to make my Kans were.
Body - 1x Tin foil tube (kept the tin foil on as I incorrectly estimated the thickness of a Kans’ body). Cut into 3cm cylinders.
Legs/Feet - 2x toy soldier radar dishes
CCW – Epic titan chain blade/Power fist
Rokkits – 3x Screw rivets
Roof – 1x 2nd Ed gretchin/ 1x R2D2 knockoff/ toy radar dish different style.
It’s mostly just items from pound-shops and my dad’s shed.
I agree with the hot glue gun, it is messy indeed. But using that which I have.

Dimensions
They are pretty close height wise to Kans but the bodies are noticeably wider than the proper ones.
All in all, they are identifable as Kans but not a patch on the real thing.
I asked the staff at my store tonight and alas, I won’t be getting away with using them in there. Ho hum, but as several people have stated, were I to cover them in glyphs and the likes, they may be more willing to let me use them. So I will give that a go, I’d hate to have come this far just to shelve them.

As for painting tips, thank you SkyCapt. I will do just that. (all barring the good paint job, my lack thereof skills in that dept)
Plus my boyz are Blood Axes (why not) therefore I will be painting them camo colours soon too. Hopefully in the next week or so I will get a chance to work on them more and I will post a few more pics. I will include a control picture too of a proper Kan too.
