Just a quick question regarding a model I'm working on that I thought the consensus of public opinion might settle for me. I've been working on/converting a large number of units for my Necron army (Immortal primes as an example, not posting that pic since it's been circulated here and again in my blog already). The latest of which being a counts-as tomb blade conversion, it isnt like the artwork, indeed is a long way from a stones throw from it and is based purely on what I felt looked good as I built it (and this may have been tempered by what was already in my bitz box).
So my question would be does this look recognisable as a tomb blade?
Can you identify what the gun counts as?
Cool or not?
And finally given that we dont know the actual full size of the models when they will be released should I anticipate issues with counts-as if I tried to play anywhere like a GW store?
Cheers
Ricki

I like the concept. Necron Helions, essentially. I'd probably mount the twin linked Gauss Blaster on the board, however. And yes, I do recognize that it isn't a Gauss Cannon, but maybe you should modify the nozzle to make it look more like 4 barrels?

Well, since you said they're Tomb Blades, it's pretty easy to recognize, and I assume their gun is a twin-linked Gauss Blaster.
However, there is one other unit it could pass as: Destroyers.
People could either see it as a Destroyer counts-as or a Tomb Blade counts-as.
To me, I'd be perfectly fine if you just said "These are Tomb Blades" before the game, I'd be like "Awesome."
However, having never been to a GW store, idk how they would handle it

The Destroyer/Tomb Blade confusion is something I had dwelled on in making them (likely the only reason I made them tomb blades and not destroyers is liking the fluff). I had hoped by opting against using the heavier armoured immortal torsos they would look like the more flimsy tomb blades.
Good point on the gun barrel, I can slice of the star shaped one that came with the gun and just mount 4 cylindrical barrels on the end to make it seem more twin linked and less heavy.
Any suggestions on how to distinguish between these and destroyers to make them further removed?

It is recognizable.
But while I can see a super-agile Eldar surf on a hover board, I can't imagine a super slow metal-zombie holding a heavy weapon in both hands do the same thing. I would rather use a Heavy Destroyer.
BTW tomb blades are expected for February/March.

I know the tomb blades are due soon (well 2 months soon), but the art work on them didn't really fit all that well with the Regal like theme I am trying to instil in my army.
Theme is that a remnant of the Technomandrites escaped and took refuge in a less honourable Dynasty during the war in heaven and thus they are still "making" things. This would have been their version of a tomb blade but as a "counter" to the more nimble eldar in the last days before the great sleep.
Still a stagnant, slow to adapt Dynasty but one pursueing new avenue of technological advancement.
The boards would employ a gravatic displacement field (similar to that of the Praetorians), to essentially mean that the warrior is always "pulled" toward the board and ignores that influence of any other local gravity (you don't need to be nimble if no matter what way up you are gravity is on your side.)
I tried to model the orbs from the scythe/praetorian body as power generators for this. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also given that I already have the spare 5 warrior bodied I needed and the board/gun are all used from spares from my Lychguard kits (I used them for immortal conversions, crypteks, overlord etc) I essentially just need to pay for the guns for each of the riders, making these about 2.50 a pop plus bitz from my bitz box. Sounds a copout I know but I like using all my spares where possible.
