This is my first real foray into converting/kitbashing/modifying/whatever the term is! There's certainly bits that could be improved but I'm actually pretty happy with this. Would love to hear your thoughts on it though, good or bad!

Also the base is a kind of prototype for my army, thoughts on that too are welcomed!

Looks really cool, like the GS on the back of the cape but could you use a photo programme to rotate the pic 90 degrees, got a crick in my neck admiring it.

Ah much better, take it you've used GS before since the fur on the cape is better than my attempts can produce.

Only thing that might improve it is a chapter specific shoulder pad. Might be hard to custom make but I think you can get ahold of one from various sites.

Other than that a real solid job, cant wait to see it painted.

Personally, I think the crossed knives and grenades in front look a bit bulky and awkward. The pose, however, is great and the I quite like the basing. The GS work isn't bad, but I worry that the fur on the back of the standard will look odd, as it doesn't match the style of the plastic in front, which it appears to be an extension of. Paint very well may blur that discrepancy, though, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Overall, I definitely like it. If this is a good indicator of things to come, I think you'll have a nicely modeled army. Let's see if your painting does it justice!

Nice, I thought the same thing when I saw that Minoatur Battle Standard in a Bitz website. Actually purchased one off ebay several months ago, though the part is still sitting in my bitz box waiting for me to return to building my wolves.

I also love hyour base. Well done I say.

Did think about custom shoulder pads, decided I want to attempt free handing the logos, and if (more like when ) that fails just use decals.

Actually considered both those things. I just couldn't get the GS fur to look as neat as the plastic, but I think it looks better with more pelt than what's actually there. The knives do look a bit big, but I couldn't find anything smaller and it looked a bit empty without them

Yeah it goes well I think. Just got mine off eBay the other day

Not bad, not bad at all. I'm jealous of your GS abilities, I'm only just figuring out how to doing fairly good work with it (while constantly licking my fingers...)

Can't wait for a painted result, get it all spiffed up with a new picture when you're able.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Looks great, especially like the base and green stuff on the back of the banner. Can't wait to see it painted.

Much better than the lazy way of gluing the Wolf Standard from the sprue on to a backpack. Considering how good Wolf Standards are, it's a wise move to spend the extra effort and make the model carrying the banner a focal point of the army. Nice work!

Thanks for the replies! It's encouraging so I do appreciate it!

Might be a while before I get him painted, I'm the most indecisive person in the world and can't decide on a colour scheme

Well, I started painting him. It's unfinished, but this is where I'm at.

I'm a terrible painter lol. There's so much wrong with this that I'm fairly embarrassed about posting it but I think I've learnt more from this model than anything else, which I guess is the most important thing!

I wanted dark and gritty wolves, tried to get a really dark blue-grey. I'm fairly happy with the armour colour but I think it needs some work, stronger highlights etc.

Anyway, here's a pic of him, and another with some of his base coated mates.
