I'd be fun with some input on this. I drew it up this summer for this project (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=11140973#post11140973) but the input I'm looking for would be purely fluff-wise with no connection to anything else. Here it is:

Spoiler:

I made it by going through the WH40K-wiki site and just noting down words that sounded like technologies and trying to pick up at what point they were invented. The biggest liberty I took was making the Space Marine-organs separate technologies and letting their development stretch so far into the future, though I didn't actually find a reference that all the organs were invented at the same time as the original primarch project...

Anyway, the main things I'm wondering is if I by accident picked up some fan-fiction then of-course if anyone have anything to add, if something should be changed. The pipes are also mostly for fun, the most important note is more in what order and roughly at what time something was invented. Other "techs" I considered where wargear but even without those I figured I had enough names to fill that tree out. I think the part I'm least satisfied with is the end of the Imperial Era and the beginning of the Far Future-era as they don't really feel to make much sense. It'd be fun with some suggestion there.

are you happy now? now i have to install civ5 all over again

i will add my own little knowledge here

standard template construct might be the initial technology since the imperium technology is actually just replicas of what come from the stc s.

It'd definitely be an interesting twist. In that tech-tree the thought was that the STC would be height of the advancement during the DAoT with advancements like the Iron Men preceding it. Though starting with the STC might give it a better feeling with a more clear starting point.

Thousand Sons Battleship wandering the galaxy...

As far as I know the Imperium has roughly recovered only thirty percent of the scientific and technological achievements made during the Dark Age of Technology. Of that thirty percent, it seems eighty percent were recovered during the Great Crusade. Apparently, should the Imperium recover ALL of the lost technology, combined with the Imperium's massive military, well, it's implied in fluff that nothing could stand against the Imperium, Tau, Eldar, Chaos, you name it, they'd all be wiped out.

Oh and the Astartes process was NOT reverse-engineered from Dark Age technology. The Emperor and unnamed researchers (including Larraman, who gave his name to the Larraman's Cells) developed it as the logical off-shoot of the Primarch Project.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.'

The Space marine organs were invented after the primarch project. The Emperor had planned that his 20 primarchs would lead his space marine legions, the space marines drew their gene seed from primarchs, so i gues maybe he probably had the gene seed first from the primarch project

Perhaps a wee bit of thread necromancy here, but it's not too bad I guess, so we'll see how it goes.
