Hi All

I'm at the moment building a Nurglesque Chaos Warriors/Deamons Army and a Skaven Army, as I tend to get bored of just painting one 'type' of figure I thought this would be a good way to keep my interest.

Anyway to start my first two figures are two converted Chaos Marauderers:

There's more images in my gallery's if you want to see more.

At the moment my wifes camera isn't on speaking terms with the laptop so I can't upload any pictures but hopefully by next week I'll get some images up.

I've just received some Gorkamorka Mutie riders from ebay that I'm going to try and convert to Nurgle knights so keep looking

Yiicckk that's perfect for Nurgle Really looking forward to more.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Just started on an old Rogue Trader Ambull, so I thought I'd try and do a step by step as so far I've only been posting finished pics.

I thought I go for him straddling a small jungle creek with various linchens moss and general lush greenness, I know the Ambul fluff says that they dwell in deserts but I'm sick of painting brown so my ambull is going to be a jungle dwelling brightly coloured tree frogish mutant...

Anyway here's what I started with for the base:

Just some beer bottle corks (Leffe), the foil wrap from the top of the beer, food ties and some sand

First I cut up the cork into the strips about the thickness of a slotta base then chopped them into smaller sections similar to how a dried river bed looks.
Next I cut two larger chunks of cork as the two high points where the ambulls feet will be placed. before gluing these to the base I pulled chunks off the edges using my tweezers to give them a more natural rugged look.
Next these two pieces were super glued on top of the crazy paving base making sure to leave a gap for him/it to straddle.

After this was dry I added smaller chunks of cork to fill in any gaps to make it look more natural. After these were dry I filled any more gaps with a mix of PVA glue and course sand and left to dry.
Next up was the foliage:

The plant in the top left above the space marine backpack is made from a section of bent wire and the leaves are made from the beer top foil tweezered and super glued on.

The shrubs on the left of this picture are made from the bristles of an old toothbrush.
The more vertical reeds in the middle of the creek were made from taking a pinvise and slowly drilling into a piece of plastic from my bits box, as the drill goes into the plastic it begins to wind itself around the thread of the drill and as long as you're careful can be tweezered off the drill bit and used as reeds. I noticed with trial and error that different materials work better than others some are too crumbly so do some trial runs if you want to recreate it yourself.

Had these rogue trader era marine bits kicking around in my bits box so thought it would look cool.

I'm not sure which way to position the ambull on the base so I've tried it both ways, let me know which way you think is best.

Anyway that's all for this update, I should hopefully have some basing flocks and water effect at the weekend so I can get it painted up in all its jungly glory and start on the actual Ambull

Let me know what you think as at the moment I feel like I'm talking to myself

Really like your standard bearer - the standard looks really 'fleshy' - great stuff

Hi All, I decided that I was bored of taking shots of my painted minis with just a plain white background so I decided to create some terrain pieces to pose figures against.

It's all mostly made from corks form the top of beer bottles, balsa wood and old CD cases.

Let me know what you think:

First up is the monolith

Now the alter:

Now the Plaguebearers and the Chaos Warrior in their new playground

And my favourite shot:

Let me know what you think!

Cheers

I used to have that chaos warrior! ....Before I sold him to help fund my 40K chaos army addiction. Nice work. I like the scenery, you've made a really good job of it with all the different grasses etc. I too may make some scenery one day Also like your old skool plague bearers - they're gross but in a good way.
