Hi all

I have 50+ new not assembled Ork boyz - can someone give me advice on how to best use them:
In 1 big unit?
With additional hand weapon or standard chopa+shield ?

It really depends on what you want them to do. General consensus (and I agree) is that shield/spear is too expensive for not enough gain since you have to pay for both upgrades. Additional hand weapon is good for maximizing your choppa bonus in the first round of a cc, and then shield hand weapon is for an anvil unit. I personally use additional hand weapons because I use night gobos as an anvil.

As for unit size, I am biased since I hate hordes, I think the rules for them are stupid although not overpowered I feel they are just not fun to play with. Because of this I run units of 30-35 in ranks of 5 or 6 depending on what I am facing. But with any unit you first have to ask yourself what you want them to do before you decide how to equip them. They are good solid core that can be support, anvil, or almost a hammer.

As a side note you can always magnetize the models and change them up.

First of all - Orcs, not Orks! Anyway, additional hand weapon and shield are both good. It really depends on what you want to do with them and what units you're going to support them with. If you're going to make them one of your killer units then I would go with additional hand weapon... But if you want to play it "safe" I would go with shields.

If you're wondering i'm going only additional hand weapons on my Orcs! I have tried both (AHW and shield) and they work just as good.

Extra hand weapons all the way. The majority of shooting is S3 so your T4 Orcs shouldn't be troubled too much.
Besides I2 needs all the extra attacks back it can get!
