With the rule in regards to "enemy spotted"

The wording is kinda ambiguous.
Do I only need to pass a LD test to march if I START within 8"
or if do I have to test if I just come within 8" of the enemy at any which point of my march (start, during, at the end point)?

Scenario 1:
if i start 10 inches away, do a march and end up 6 inches to the flank of a unit not in combat, do I have to test for LD?

Scenario 2:
what if I start 10 inches away, and end my march 10inches from any enemy unit, but DURING the march, i would have came with 8 units of an enemy unit not engaged, do I have to make a test?

The way I interpret this is that I only have to take the LD test is if I START the march within 8 inches of an unengaged enemy, and it is irrelevant where I end up or how close I come to something.
