Hey Everyone,

I'm pretty new to posting here (Even though I've been lurking here regularly for about 2 years now ) and I've decided to take the plunge and start a project log of all of my (many, many) projects.

I would like to have a separate one for each project, but, frankly, if that were to happed I would have a thousand blogs that would never get updated

So for my introductory post here, I'll put two random Guard WIPs I've been doing... The first is a Vet Sergeant with a Shotgun, and it's definitely one of my favourite conversions... And as much as I would love a whole army styled like this, that isn't likely to happen...

As you can see the urban camo paintjob is still WIP, and he will eventually get a proper base

Second model is an IG commander, in his parade best

Again, still WIP, and I apologise for the not-very-good pictures, but I'm with a camera!

This is just a teaser really... I'm waiting on some models to arrive before I can get started on two rather large projects....

I like the roughneck with the shotgun, he looks cool. Looking forward to those "big" projects.

Thanks all for the nice comments, but it's update time!

I did a little more painting on the shotgunner last night, added a little more colour, especially to his belt of shells but I didn't take any photos of that because something FAR more awesome arrived in the post this morning

In this box are 20 Space Marines, but I will only need 18... The plan, is to make and paint one model to the best standard I can achieve to represent each Pre-Heresy Legion, I have some other bits from eBay and some other places still en-route, but I was able to make a start this morning

This is an Assault Marine (No jump pack though) of the IX Legion - The Blood Angels, wearing Mk. IV Maximus Armour.

As you can see, only roughly tacked together so far, but that's pretty much how he's going to look... I still need to do quite a bit of GS work, Especially his Power Sword arm, to make his wrist match the Mk. IV style. I'm not amazingly competent with GS, but I'm going to try it anyway, I'm pulling no punches with this project!

So, this is one of the major projects I hinted at yesterday, please leave some C&C and tell me what you think of it!

Remember, if you want to go SM, I will be happy to take your IG off your hands Isn't it awesome to get a big FW box in the mail like that?

The two IG guys look great, I particularly like how the commander is holding the sword behind his back, very cool!

Looking forward to more pre-heresy marines, the blood angel is super!

Thanks Everyone!

@dsteingass - Unfortunately I'll be hoarding all my Guard stuff Who knows, I may even add to it at some point! And yes, it is always good to get a delivery of stuff, Forgeworld or not!

I did a little of the GS work on the Blood Angel, and whilst I was waiting for it to cure properly I decided to start another Marine Again, it's just tacked together at the moment.

This is a Tactical Marine from the XIV Legion - The Death Guard, wearing Mk. V Heresy Armour. Pretty much bog standard, although I added the skull to the right shoulder pad. There isn't really much else I could add to it, the Death Guard are pretty much famous for not bothering with ornamentation at all! The only GS work I need to do is blending the skull in to the pad properly, otherwise it just needs to be glued together and some paint added.

I'd love some C&C on anything here,

Thanks for reading!

good looking guy there... one question tho... the shoulderpad with the skull... is it meant to be without the trim?

by the way... you just gotta love those FW bolters...^^

@Viktor Von Domm: Yes it is, it's part of the Heresy armour, and doesn't have the trim, the Corvus armour uses the same pads.

That does leave me with a bit of a dilemma when it comes to painting it though, the Death Guard scheme pre-heresy is white armour and a green trim around the pads, should I just paint the full pad in green?

hmmm... that could be a bit ...well...boring...hmmm mom...need a min to research...

you are referring to that scheme:

hmmm... if the mark V armor has no trims then i would still make only the skull stand out...

That's the scheme yes, I'm thinking that I'll paint the pads fully in green, and use the skull as the centre of the legion symbol, freehanding the starburst/halo thingy around it. So although it's on the "wrong" side, it's still on show.

That's the plan anyway...

Bolters? the hell with those!, check out those big, juicy pre-heresy RIVETS!

Lots of rivets indeed!

Actually the Mk. V is one of my least favourite precisely because of there being so many rivets! I got the set though because it really "fits" the feel of the Death Guard (and some of the other legions) really well...

Speaking of Death Guard

I'v glued him together now, minus the bolter and the skull pad, which has been GS'd. I've also started adding a basecoat of Charadon Granite all over, I'll do the skull pad separately when the GS sets.

I'll finish the basecoat and then I think that might be it for the night... I may be able to get more pictures before the new year is out

Ok, I should have probably put up some sort of warning that I'm really, REALLY bad at keeping things like this up to date

Work has progressed a little on the Pre-Heresy project... The Death Guard has had some paint, a bit of green-stuffing has happened on the Blood Angel and I've built up another marine, whose legion I will not reveal yet until the pictures

In other news, I received the bits to start my other big project, and have made a beginning on that, again not revealing anything until the pics

Pics may be up later today, but for now this is a text only update... Sorry

We eagerly await pics! You'll be surprised if you post regular WIP shots, it will help you remember how you did things.

Right, well before I continue, I need some opinions...

Should I paint the Death Guard's backpack white like the traditional scheme posted above by Vik, or should I paint the pack in green like the model below (Not mine, just an example from google images... There's actually alot more with green packs than without....)

And I'll try to get some pictures up later today...

if i should decide i would do it in white... because of the exhaust and the possible wear and tear there... which i think would look much better grimy and sooty on a white base...

but that is just my taste...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Artificers in the Horus Heresy Novels paint the backpacks to match the Power Armor IIRC. The green makes a much better spot color IMO.

I'll try again later today, see if I can get the camera working...

As an aside - White backpack it will be... I'll get pics up as soon as I can get the damn thing working,...
