This P&M Log will be showing the progress of my Kan Wall and ultimately the rest of my Ork Horde for Warhammer 40K. I'm starting this at work so I don't have any starting pictures yet, but will upload those tonight or tomorrow as time allows. I'll also be including a background story on my Waaagh and how these two big meks became caste out from their warband.

So, my Waaaagh is growing. It has been crazy at work so I haven't updated my P&M with pictures yet, but that is coming. My current force is mustering around 2000 - 3000 points of a Kan Wall. My backstory when I write it will explain why I've chosen some of the units I did and why I steered away from others. This growing army is supposed to be fun and the models I'm gathering are because I like them. Basically, this is a fluff list.

Okay, so finally an update. I've discovered that it is far more difficult to make time for gaming and painting than it was when I was in high school. I remembered coming home from school and doing my homework so that I could paint until 10 or 11 each night. Now, I hit the steps to the house and my wife asks me about dinner, reminds me to hit the gym because of my blood pressure, and then I'm guilt tripped out the door again. Returning an hour to and hour and a half later I eat, catch a Big Bang Theory Rerun, and then try to sneak an hour of painting in. My painting hour typically gets side swipped by the emergency of the moment and I end up waist deep in a pile of lord only knows what fixing something at the house. AND all of this is pre-children. Heaven Help Me.......

Anyway, I've made some progress. Below are my army's current pictures. As of last night I had finished my 3rd Killa Kan so I've got one squad complete. Since this is my first army back into the hobby my paint jobs are trying to stay basic, but clean. I'm sneaking a few washes and other cute things in there, but I'm definitely not hitting all the detail work I could be. I suspect that type of effort will be reserved for either my second army or for helping my dad start an Imperial Guard army (he is toying with the idea so we shall see.) A bit of a warning is that I'm a University of Tennessee Alumni. So, by way of my tuition expenses alone I felt that I had no choice but to paint my Waaaagggh in Orange and White.

Wow! Has it been a long time since I've posted anything. At one point my painting was coming along so slowly that I considered abandoning this blog all together. But, in typical greenskin fashion I got distracted by the pretty shiny object to come along and dropped my painting and army build flat. However, I've returned and have really been covering some ground these last few weeks. I've made a few blunders that are typical to the average gamer I suspect and are exactly what Games Workshop hopes will happen.....I've started dreaming of another army. I keep telling myself that since I only play once a week that to start a second army when the current one isn't even 50% painted would be stupid. So, I'm pressing on with the painting so that I can look into new forces towards the end of the year. We will have to see what I come up with at that time.

The next gamer blunder I've made is that I've continued buying more minis!! I realize that this is typical, but when you've limited you new force start by saying "paint more of what you have first" this is not a smart play. In fact, this is flat out working against yourself and I have done it masterfully. The originaly force that I took pictures of above consisted of the following:

90 Boys
10 Deff Koptas

Since that time I've purchased the following:
3 Battlewagons
15 Lootas
6 Mega Nobs
6 Warbuggies

At this point I have effectively already bought my second army theme they just happen to have the same my race. I think that this was a poor buying decision as it now limits my ability to go purchase another force via a new codex. I'm thinking army number two will be a fantasy army since I've already gone this far with the Orks in 40K. Well, since I've purchased like crazy the next step is to show the progress...I'll have post my progress. I've finished the following and will post pictures soon:

I have my first flight of koptas in progress so hopefully I can get them finished in relatively short order so that things keep moving along nicely. I'm hoping that I can get all five finished in a calendar week and be starting my second flight be this coming Sunday. We will just have to see how it goes. I'm sure it will be just like the Kans and that it will start out slow until I've got a system going. By the end of the Kans I was able to crank out them out pretty quickly since I had done 9 in a row of them.
