Hey guys, just a quick question.

I take it that my model, let's say a Black Orc Big Boss, has heavy armor. Giving him an Armor Save of 5+. If I equip him with Armor of Preservation ( I think that's what it's called) which gives a 4+ Ward Save, then he loses the 5+ armor save since he no longer is wearing Heavy Armor. Is that correct?

Mississauga

He would lose the armour save from the heavy armour.

However, most of the time, the magical armours also count as heavy or light armour. I am not sure about the armour of preservation specifically, but check the book and it may list it as either heavy armour or light armour.

2,500 - Discipline. Duty. Unyielding Will.
2,000 - He alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood.
2,500 - Order. Unity. Obedience.

Yah, a magic item replaces the common item of the same slot. If you just want a ward, you can get a talisman from the BRB.

So...Armour of Destiny, 50pts, heavy armour, grants a 4+ Ward.

The Boss would lose his mundane heavy armour, and would gain the magical heavy armour...which functions the same, but also a Ward.

Magic Armour grants some kind of armour save. 'Cause, you know, it's armour.

The Talisman of Preservation is 5pts less than the Armour of Destiny though, and it does the same thing, minus being amour, which your Orc already has, so I'd do that instead, unless you need it for a Shaman.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

If you have to pay for HA on a dude(Like a Boss) then its best to give him the Armor of Destiny which combines HA and 4+ ward so you can save the Talisman of Preservation for your Shamen.

But if the HA is standard then its best to take the Talisman(unless you want it for the Shamen)
