Hi Forum. I'm new here. I've been an off and on player of 40k for the last decade or so, and have just now gotten back to collecting and playing again. The Imperial Guard have always appealed to me because of their lack of superhuman abilities. There your basic human fighting against almost impossible odds. There also cool because of the amount of weaponry and vehicles you get to chose from. I wanted to start this blog to kind of keep of journal of the development of my army. My point value atm is just above 1500.

My army build so far is: 1 Company Command w/ Colonel Straken, Ministorum Priest, Plasma gun, and Chimera ; 2 Infantry Platoons - IP1 has PCS1 w/ ML and GL, 2 Inf Squad w/ 1 LC and 2 Flamer ; IP2 has PCS2 w/ Commisar, ML and Flamer, 2 Inf Squad w/ 1 LC, 1 AC, Flamer, Melta ; Vet Squad w/ 2 Melta, Plasma, Chimera ; 6 Ratling Snipers, Eversor Assassin ; 3 Sentinels w/ Multi laser ; Basilisk, LR - Demolisher.

Here are some pics of some of the troops. I'm trying to get a handle of my camera's zoom so it may be awhile before i can get some good clear shots. Any comments or critique are appreciated.

The paint looks good. I think you need an inquisitor if you are fielding an assassin though.

There is no overkill. Only open fire and reload

@ Celticwelsh. Thanks. I was reading in the Assassin Codex and it saids in here that you can run an Assassin as long as you play with an Imperial Army. I could still be wrong since I cant figure out if my Codex is 5th edition or 4th. : /

Just got Straken in the mail yesterday. I can't wait to get started w/ painting this mini. To me, it's one of the best models I've ever seen from GW. It's very detailed and the pose is awesome. I unfortunately won't be able to field him painted, since I have an Apoc game today I did primer him so i'll get to the painting before the weekend is out and post updates.

Here is an update on Col. Straken. I pretty much went by the book on his color scheme. Only thing left to do now is make a camo pattern for his pants.
I also worked on some scenery. This is one of the funnest parts of the hobby to me. I tried to create a theme relative to the Siege of Bastogne during World War 2.
From the story, I pictured ruined building's surrounded by trench lines. So with that in mind, I came up with what is pictured below.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I've gotten around to playing 3 games with the list i have above minus the Assassin and with a LR Battle tank. I haven't been beaten. And out of the 3 draws due to time restraints, 2 of them I could have easily won.

In one game i faced a Blood Angels player. We played on a board with dense urban terrain. I was able to immobilize his Land Raider, kill off his devestator squad, 10x man scout squad, and 5x man tact squad with special bolters. He had two hero's with jump packs. Only one of them made it into HtoH, but the other was failed by my 3x Senitnels shooting. In return i loss both tanks (Demolisher, and LRBT), a few veterans and Heavy Weapon team guys. By turn 4 he was left with 1x undamaged Storm Raven, Immobile Land Raider, a Baal Predator and 8x members of a 10x man Tact Squad. I had left 3 sentinels, 1x platoon w/ 2x lascannon/ 1x ML, 1x bare lasgun squad, Col Straken, Basilisk and 5x veterans w/ plasma and 2x melta guns.
