The specific products you want are Minwax Polyshades Satin finishes. These are combination polyurethane and stain products that are almost exactly the same as Quickshade (even available in the same small size cans) but cost about 1/4 the price.
It's what people used to "dip" for decades before someone got the idea to sell "Quickshade" directly to hobbyists. Also, note that while you can techinically use any product for dipping, "Dipping" almost always usually refers to use of a polyurethane-and-stain combination product such as Armypainter Quickshade or Minwax Polyshades.
It dries glossy just like Quickshade and will require a matte finish of some sort. I use hardware store clear matte spray or my new favorite, artist's brush on matte varnish/finish which is quite inexpensive, easy to use, quick drying and avaialble from almost any art supply store.
The Army Painter to Minwax aproximate equvalents are as follows.
Soft Tone = Pecan
Strong Tone = Antique Walnut
Dark Tone = Tudor
Tudor is a bit harder to find if you're local hardware doesn't have this, most any "ACE" Hardware will order it for you in a couple days. If you need the "Dark Tone" Black pigmented finish, then only Tudor will do, but for other figs you can experiment with the various shades of brown as there are many more shades of Minwax Polyshades than their are of Army Painter Quickshade.
If you're not sure which color to use for what application, use the galleries at the Army Painter site. You can search by paint scheme base color and find pics and a guide to which shades to use. Sometimes they even show the same fig in all 3 different dips. Just pick the one you like and then substitute the Minwax product from the list above. Here's one of the Galleries showing an Ork nobb dipped in strong tone
