Ok, so this is going to be another one of those single purpose threads. It will document the construction of a Mars Pattern Warhound Devoted to Khorne. Yes, I will be hard coding some Khorne symbology onto the Warhound. I am hoping to be finished with this construction NLT the 25th of January. I have , in one day, gotten only this far. Wish me luck:

The toes are cut, but unassembled. The Feet pads are partially assembled. The Leg parts and connecting joints (read: PVC Pipe pieces) are cut assembled and trimmed (trimmed for the most part). The pelvis is assembled with some paneling left to be applied. This will be standing from the waste down wil at least 75% of all detail NLT Saturday night.



I did some of the chaos detail on of the upper leg pieces and decided that I needed to see if it was going to look good enough with paint on it. So I resigned myself to having to build another one to replace one of the two this model requires and set myself to learn some painting skills in my preferred Nurgle green and black:




Please, tell me what you think about the detail and paint. I am still learning the paint thing so go easy on me. I know it has issues but, IMHO, I think it looks pretty good.

Since I have to redo that piece because I can't wait to see stuff with paint on it I may as well admit that I am just going to have to do a Nurgle Warhound or two (three?) to accompany the Nurgle Reaver. Jees, when am I gonna stop putting things on the list for me to do?

OoooO! I can't wait to see how this turns out! The Chaos pad looks very Chaosy! Very nice!

But what happened to the Khorne part? You need red and brass for Khorne! With a little (very little or it will overpower everything else) verdigris around the rivets and on the bottom of the brass parts. (for verdigris I have seen turquoise put to good use!)

Will follow this thread with great interest. Got a FW warhound to build - you're very brave scratch building it!

I think it is good, but the chaos symbols seem to perfect, If you look at the Fw one and in the IA seige of Vraks books, the titans are very warped

Oh, OK. I think that looking at old cars would be a great inspiration for weathering. That's what I do

Yes! Exactly! Is it sad that I could remeber the word verdigris, but yesterday, for the life of me, I couldn't think of a synonym for it?!?! Like "corroded", or even "tarnished"! (witch I JUST now thought of!) Brain Fart!

Looing good, but aren't the icons on upside down?

Ok, so I realized I was really sick when Khaine pointed out the Khorne Icons were on upside down.



Could have PM'd that but, oh well, at least it got fixed. I know how that happened but am in awe that I didn't catch it earlier. Anyway, as I said over on the Lucius thread, not much done due to the raginf fevers and headaches but here is what I have to show for now. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to stand these things up. Not holding breath for it though....




As for the yuck-i-fucation of the appearance I am looking at several techniques to simulate physical neglect and abuse on the exterior of this. I am gonna use plastic cement to "corrode" holes and worn away spots on the armor and my dremel with a diamond tip to edge out the sharpness on the chaos icons and emblems so the appear more closely to the real thing. I also am going to be adding in some bits and gubbins that I have left over from the battleforce and landraider, as well as the two sets of chaos vehicle sprues my buddy gave me.

Looking good, though I always feel the ankles look very thin for such a big machine. Not a crit towards you, just towards the warhound design in general.

No, I understand, and if these weren't for my purist friend who insists they be as absolutely as close to real as possible than I would be taking liberties. Had this discussion with The_Blackadder and I think we agree the overall design isn't technologically feasible.

@RSJake, is the codpiece showing the kind of "warped" appearance you meant? I have a good bt of that edging left to do on it and then the glue drops to add heavily corroded spots to basically the entire thing.

Looking good, like the dremel work on the icon! And I agree titan design requires some very specific leaps in technology to be halfway feasible. And even then...

Yes, I love my diamond tips.....


And the side cutting drill bit, too. Saves me on XActo blades for large repetitive cuts and SOME very fine work......

More photogs tonight. Question: I am trying to make this as close to actual as possible. I have already cut accuracy corners on the torso. I would like a group opine on whether or not this model should have an enterior that is viewable by removing the carapace. What do you think?
