Well hey all I’m working on a "grant tank" and I have a simple question I have the outside all set out its going to be a yellowish kind of colour but I can’t figure out what the inside colour should be have any of yous got an idea of what colour it should be used.

p.s I did see some grant tank with the inside painted white but for some reason it didn’t look like it was ment to be white .

Insides aren't normally painted the same as the outsides. You tend to just find steel and metal colors, other colors for lights and dials, and any seating tends to be brown.

Tanks tend to be white or some pale colour inside, it makes it easier to see things. They certainly aren't dark colours.

The inside of hatches may tend to be the outside colour though because they would draw attention when resting open. Also the exposed area in any open topped vehicles like self propelled guns may be dark on the inside for the same reason, though the inside of the vehicle further in may be white again.

Not sure sure about the green BTW, it is a museum vehicle after all so colours can be dubious. The outer camouflage scheme depicted on this vehicle is rather suspect IMO. But the white illustrates the point.

This was a much more interesting thread when I kept reading 'grant' as 'grot.'

White is used for a practical reason, it magnifies the interior lighting, allowing the use of less light sources.

@snurl: Yeah I was thinking of a white but with a little bit of a cream colour in it but i dont know yet , i will be putting stains on the walls and the engine and make a little dirty inside just to give it that more detail.

@Mad4Minis: I was looking at some more tanks like panthers ,and shermans, and all there inside area was painted white but to your questiion it does make sence on why it white and thanks for that didnt know that fact haha.

The sherman I was in was like graveyard earth color in the corners and edges and not much brighter than denheb stone in the brightest areas. There was some rust too but that may have been from age.

Somewhere in south-central England.

Tanks are usually white inside. That's why Chaos vehicles have a lower carrying capacity than Loyalist vehicles.

The Grant in the Imperial War Museum is white on the inside. I have a photo of it somewhere.
