Seeing as how the original question was answered almost immediately! I have had very little luck searching for alternate land raider models on the net. I just received several models I plan to use as Baal predators, and I think they're fantastic, but haven't had so much luck with their bigger cousin.

Any ideas?

Here's the predator model I'm using, by Secret Weapon Miniatures (link to thread in N&R: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/381797.page )

Original post was asking the identity of this tank:

I stumbled on the pic with no description and wasn't familiar with it...

You guys are Good! Somehow I missed it when I checked that page...

Since the question is already answered, I edited the OP to reflect my original reason for searching the net for tank images: looking for an alternate Land Raider model!

Any ideas appreciated, I've been shocked at how little I could find about this. It seems like there would be a lot of great candidates, but I haven't seen pics of any being used...

Well, there's the Forge World variants, if you want something that's different from the standard (i.e. cheap) land raider.

Other than that...the only thing that comes to mind would be scale model kits of WWI British tanks, which appear to have been the inspiration for the land raider design in the first place. But, I'm not even sure such models exist or who would make them. They also might be rather expensive and if they're in 1/35th scale, that might not be very suitable for the table top.

Personally, I plan on getting some of the forge world variants as they're pure awesome!

Old crow looks cool. I was going to suggest a 1/35 scale Matilda tank. It has the solid flat sides of 40k vehicles and is small enough to not look out of place. Of course some scratchbuilding would be needed to pull it off.....

The Lancer is about the WIDTH of a landraider (not as tall, though).
One of the gun options for the turret is TWO rotary cannons, though (and it shouldn't prove that tricky to mount sponsons on it either.).

Ask shasolenzabi about them for detailed info.

What about the Aliens movie APC? Game over, man, game over!! Its longer than a land raider from the size comparison pic including a space marine but probably not as wide.

These guys also make very nice tanks and APCs but they all seem a bit small for a Land Raider. The APCs do however roughly match the wheeled trend your OP pic has.

Both of these links are Really cool! I had simply been searching for 1/35 scale tanks, but didn't find anything that I thought would work. Lots to look through now...

I didn't have one jump out at me as "the one", as ideally it would have access points on the sides and Possibly sponsons (unlike in 40k, for most tanks that seems like a one-or-the-other idea). But I can always convert one or the other of those items.

Thanks for the great ideas so far!

Nice! The only problem with tanks like that is that it seems without the turret they'll be so low... and probably look a little unfinished.

Still thinking this over, would welcome any more ideas

I suppose the obvious would be the British WW1 tanks, although I'm not certain what scales they are available in.

I'm being tempted by the 1/35 Canadian LAV III TUA... whatever that is, but it looks cool! And has wheels

Need to figure out if this would be Land Raider sized, though.

Not sure if its Land Raider sized or not. Planning on using LAV's myself for my IG army when I get done converting for Orkses.

Fairly certain that this would cost tons of money though
