Hey everyone. I started into the 40k hobby last september (2011) with an AoBR set, and quickly became enamoured with the game. Since then my space marine army has grown a lot, and most of my time has been spent figuring out how I wanted to play them, and modelling figures to be equipped for a core list I would base most of my games around. Pretty much that is done, so this blog will mostly center around getting them painted. The reason I am starting this blog is to give me incentive to stay driven to paint on a regular basis. Please chime in with comments and critism etc, or just drop in and give me a kick in thebutt to start that next model. My army theme as you will see in the pictures is white power armour with silver/gold trim, and red highlights on the seals and such. Hope you like what I have done so far.

So far I have completed 7 marines, 3 terminators, and 1 dreadnought. My goal at the moment is to complete 2 more termies to complete the squad, and then move on to my first attempt at doing a tank.

I have to agree that the missle launcher is a bit silly... But you're paint job is good. I would really lose the missles though....

How are you doing the white? It looks damn good...white is a pain in the a$$ to paint in large areas like that and have it look nice and smooth

I also agree with the others, your cyclone missle launcher looks silly

I play

I will magnetize (now doing LED as well) your models for you, send me a DM!

Very nicely done on the white, I painted a Valkyrie white once and it never got finished and I learned how not to paint white...

Nice job. How many layers of white are you doing? I have to do at least three to get that kind of smooth finish.

If I want some shading I have to thin it right down and do 5 or 6.

I rather like the "dirtied" areas on the back packs and ankles.

What does the Exalted option do? No bloody idea but it sounds good.

Now that there's a beaut white. Your cyclone missile launcher, as others have said, does look better in an Ork army I'd say.

I know what you mean about the white. I play Biel-Tan, which have a ton of it... Tau will be a nightmare too, seeing as I'm planning on starting Bor'kan Sept.

Keep up the good work mate.

Haha thanks for all the comments, and I will take the cyclone misile launcher into consideration. However it will have to stay until I get the regular model. I am doing the white based on Les Bursley's method but skipping a couple of the inbetween steps to speed it up a bit. Primed gray, black wash, then 3 or 4 coats of thined white to cover up. As I have been getting better at painting I have found that after the second coat of white i can start staying away from the edges of the power armor where i want a bit of shade, and have a less translucent white on the upper areas where it gets more coats. So my first model to my more recent ones you can tell a difference when you get them side by side. Les does two extra steps where after washing he goes codex gray, and then fortress gray, and then starts white coats. In the end that would probably give me a better result but would probably also add on an hour or two of painting per model at the rate I go .
