As you can most likely tell, I'm new, both to DakkaDakka and to 40k. At age 6 I was walking through a mall with my folks when I stumbled upon a GW store, it was love at first sight. My parents thought that I was a little too young to be building and painting figures, so all I walked away with that day was a small booklet with various 40k and Fantasy scenes and their descriptions, it was clearly designed to draw people into the hobby... well it worked... sort of.

I spent the next 6 years moving around, but somehow that little booklet (slightly worse for wear) would always manage to pop up. Every time the booklet turned up, I would spent hours looking through it and imagining the world, every time I would plan and intend on actually getting into the hobby... I never did. After a particularly large move some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for 10 years, the 40k passed out of all knowledge. Until, when chance came, 40k ensnared me again (props to whoever gets that perversion of that quote). In plain english, I lost the booklet, forgot about 40k for years, and only got back into the universe a year or two ago.

40k snatched me back up again through the fluff, a friend of mine let me borrow the Eisenhorn omnibus, which I decided to buy, which was followed up by the Horus Heresy, then the Grey Knights trilogy, then Blood Angels, then Rynn's World, etc. etc. so on and so forth, needless to say I have a rather large 40k library at this point. December of 2011 I actually had some spare cash in my pocket so I decided to finally bite the bullet and get into the hobby. After talking to my friend (who plays Eldar and IG) I decided to play Orks, their attitude just appealed to me I guess.

1 AoBR, a box of Killa Kans, a box of Nobz, a decent selection of paints from Vallejo (I preferred the dropper bottles and their size to the GW pots), and a variety of other odds and ends later... here I am. I've been browsing DakkaDakka for months now and decided to finally sign up and say hi.

To be honest I'm more excited about making terrain than the models or even the game itself, I just have a mind for terrain and DakkaDakka has given me a ton of inspiration.
