Hey guys I've been playing around with my laser engraver and just ran a test on an Eldar Avatar ruler. It came out better than I had thought. I'm going to add red paint to the letters and might just leave the runes the way they are. Let me know what you think.Next I'm thinking of doing a blood angel or necron ruler it measures 6" 4" 2" and 1"

It'd be easier to comment if we could see the thing... Sort the image out and you'll likely garner some actual feedback.

[edit:] Ah, good - you added it to the gallery. Now, if you go to that image, you'll find a little text box that says "Forum" (among others) below, under "Share this image." If you copy the text in there and paste it into a post, you'll get an image that also acts as a link to the gallery page, where it can be zoomed, voted upon, and commented on. For example (if you quote my post, you'll see the code):

Now that I can see it, I've got to say, nice work on the engraving. Aesthetically, the details are great - both the cutout and the etching fits. I'd be curious to see what it looks like with a bit of paint in the recesses. I am a little worried about the resilience of certain segments, though, around that cut out icon (the triangle and any of the "fins" that divide the parallel lines). I'm assuming this is acrylic, by look, which would make those sections very susceptible to any force not perfectly perpendicular to the plane of the ruler, due to its brittleness.

Its plexi. It fairly strong, doesn't bend too easy. I should have made the etchings deeper so that the paint could sit easier in it. Also the triangle in the symbol is about to fall out, I didn't expect to lose about .0025 of an inch because of how hot the laser was and the fact it took 4 cuts to take it out of the plex. Monday Im going to try again and also will make some custom blast templates

I'll have to remember to check in later, then - I'm excited to see the blast templates.
