Ok so im starting VC im getting the book soon and I have the BRB (and read it regularly) I want for my lord a zombie dragon and since im not up against empire and dwarfs (or many artillery units) I think this would be a viable option but im not sure since I have no army book, and I do not want a terrorghist because the thought of having a zombie dragon is more appealing to me more than a big undead bat.

I will However may be playing OK and DE which do have artillery units (such as iron blasters and reaper bolt throwers) so how can I combat them to make sure my dragon lord stays alive?

Also what should I equip my vampire lord with (I will be playing against TK,WE,DE,HE,OK,daemons and orcs and gobbos (possible)?

I may also add my opponents seem in my head wanting to want more monsters than artillery units.

The problem with the zombie dragon is leadership.
The vampire lord has got a 10, meaning it is very tough to squeeze in a vampire lord on dragon, and not have him be the general.
If you use the speed advantage of the dragon, you leave the rest of your army slowly walking across the table.

The best use for any of the undead big things seems to be with a pair or trio of spell casters.
I'm running corpse cart, mortis engine and vargeists, along with 3 spell casters. The ease of casting invoke on a 6+ means I can heal one of these units 2 wounds with 1 casting (one from the spell, 1 from the attribute).

If you wanted to go all out with the dragon, loading up on lots of dire wolves for core, and attaching mounted necromancers to black knight units gives a very fast strike force undead.

My zombie dragon? It gets used when I run the vampire heroes with beast magic. It makes a perfect dragon for transformation.
