Here is a list that I wrote for an upcoming tournament:

quickblood - 168

Wight King, shield, dragonhelm, sword of might - 119

30x Skeleton Warriors, skeleton champion, musician, standard bearer - 180

26x Zombies, musician, standard bearer - 88

24x Zombies, musician, standard bearer - 82

24x Zombies, musician, standard bearer - 82

20x Zombies, musician, standard bearer - 70

Corpse Cart, unholy lodestone - 120

29x Grave Guard, seneschal, musician, standard, banner of the barrows - 399

5x Blood Knights, kastellan, musician, standard bearer, banner of blood keep - 360

I am very interested in others opinions, as I have not played with the new book yet. I think that this list should do well, but if there is anything that I can do to improve it, then I would like to figure that out. Thanks.

No save on your general in an army that fall to pieces when your general dies, might need to fix that.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Cept the other casters can hold it together even if the general dies.

The enemy of my enemy is a bastard so lets kill him too.

I guess.. you really need to test it a few times before entering a tournament with it imo. People know VCs generals hold them together, 3 casters and a combat hero, none of which have a ward is going to be picked off too easily.

Well, as far as the lord goes, I somewhat agree with jonolikespie. I would love to give the lord a ward save, except I don't have the points. Also, the lord will be in the bunker of 20 zombies hiding behind the other units. For the most part he and his unit will be out of sight. This means he will be subject to less hate. My hope is that this will keep him safe. The vampire that rides with the blood knights will benefit from the banner of blood keep, has a +1 armor save, and always strikes first. I think that he should be able to live fairly well, when put against other heroes, and some less killy lords. I wouldn't throw him up against a Chaos Lord, but certain other lords like empire lords or elf lords; I think he could take them. Don't forget about the wight king. He can be pretty scarry. Like Draigo said, even if the lord somehow dies, one of the other necros can hold the army together. My thought is that with four Invocations, I will be able to get at least two of them through. With proper placement of the wizards, this will ensure that the army is big enough not to die for the one turn it will be forced to crumble. I really appreciate your input, and keep it coming.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought posting the new list here made more sense.

Here is a new list that I am working on:

Master Necromancer, level 4 wizard, master of the dead, talisman of preservation - 265

Necromancer - 65

Necromancer - 65

Necromancer - 65

30x Skeleton Warriors, skeleton champion, musician, standard bearer - 180

30x Skeleton Warriors, skeleton champion, musician, standard bearer - 180

20x Zombies, musician, standard bearer - 70

20x Zombies, musician, standard bearer - 70

6x Varghiest, varghoyle - 286

6x Varghiest, varghoyle - 286

Terrorghiest - 225

Terrorghiest - 225

Total: 1982

With this list I have eighteen points left over.

Alternatively, I could split the two varghiest units into three units of four, with varghoyls in each. Or, I could switch out the two units of skeletons and zombies, for five units of zombies with full command. Let me know what you guys think about the possible changes.
