I had no luck with searching for easy and good looking metal basing of my space marines. Then I had an idea about using sticky advertisement foil. This foil has little holes and one sticky side.
Here comes the thing:

The paint on this foil did not hold well, so i took a little off with sandpaper.

Cut the shape of the 'metal' part from the foil. Remove protective paper layer and stick it just like this on base.

Cut the overlaping foil and form a circle. Paint the foil with metalic color. I used the 'Boltgun Metal' from Citadel colors for this.

Wash the foil to get proper effect and pop up details. I used 'Devlan Mud' wash from Citadel colors.

I'm new in the w40k painting, so forget the details about the model

What is "sticky advertisement foil" ?

Is this something you find in scrapbooking or something?

Maybe the right name for this foil is "One Way Vision Film". Used by advertisement agencies to print some adverts on glass while stay semi-transparent. (Buses, windows, etc.)

Hi! Search for local advertisement agencies or print houses. This was my way to get it. They can have these types of material even as spare parts. Or ask for their supplier.
