If I ran this list, would you play me? How would you go about trying to beat it? I'm just starting off in Fantasy and I wanna know how well I'm doing writing lists so far...so hit me.

Yes?

Get off Dwellers if I had access to the Lore of Life? Or, as a Dwarf player, just hammer your Swordmasters and Seaguard into smaller, much more managable sizes.

It's a good list, but it's hardly broken.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

What lore is the Mage using? And what blocks are both of the characters in?

Overall, it has some nasty things, but it's pretty...ok. The Sword Masters are your only REAL heavy hitter, though Pheonix Guard are no slouches. And while the World Dragon banner does shut down magic hardcore, it does nothing against Magic lores that buff units instead of attack yours (Gut Magic, Vampire Magic, most of Lore of Life and Light, etc) And with only 3 big blocks, you can be smacked down pretty hard by a capable MSU player.

But it looks ok. Certainly not busted. And sure, I'd play against ya. XD

The correct question is, would I be enjoying this hobby if I did this?

The correct audience is you.

Big block lists like these are one of the worst ways to play Warhammer. They reward neither good play or tactics, are not competitive and will not help you improve as a player. Stay away from lists like these would be my advice.

Then what does a good high elf list look like? Do they run MSU? Would this list be any better? Like I said, just starting so I'm not really sure what the best things to take are...

Deployment is two lines of Sea Guard in 10x2 formation in the middle, until enemy gets close, then reform, with the two units of swordmasters on each side of that, with 2 great eagles on the very flanks of each side. Still trying to decide where to put there heroes, advice would be appreciated.

30-40 models are big blocks in the UK? In my meta its usually around 30 for elites units,40-50 for mid level stuff and cheap stuff like slaves etc roll around in 50-100 blocks. However everyone still takes alot of chaff units for extra deployment drops and redirecting.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

Combine seaguard into a single unit. They won't do much in smaller blocks. They really need weight of numbers and/or the ability to be/strip steadfast.
Arcane protect? Garbage. Grab the defense gear and a great weapon, no need for a magic banner on the BSB.
Add 1 more swordmaster to each unit, and go 7 wide.
I've found the the ghost mage are more trouble to deal with. (Turns off magic weapons and is immune to non-magical attacks).
If you can squeeze it in, take the flaming banner on seaguard. Seems like everybody and their mother regenerate these days.

If you're after a really optimal list, dropping the Seaguard altogether would be the best start, they're really not very good at all.

I wanted to wait until the end of this weekend to see the results of Sheffield Slaughter, but my team-mate (the highest ranked High Elf player in the UK) once again managed to take out top High Elf at the event, his list is very abusive (Hoeth/Shadow magic... derp...) but I think it's about the best High Elf list around you'll see. Here's a link to his 2 most recent list incarnations, each time you're looking for Gary Denisov's list:

Take lothern sea guard, have them stay home. they can shoot and their weapons (spears) If I remember correctly need you being chraged not you charging them to be effective. 2 of 20?
Get some swordmasters, they are de bees knees!
Bolt throwers maybe?
Im not too shone on the warhammer rules completely yet.
Imho at 2000 pts you would want something like 2 mages at level 2 or 3 so you have access to more than one lore. Thats just me though. its your choice really.

Easy to beat. use teclis about 40-50 archers and 60 pheonix guard. Although this is a broken list which completely breaks fantasy.
