I'm a fan of walkers they are one of my favorite units in Warhammer 40k and I really like the Imperial Guard. My problem is that the guard only have one kind of walker and for an army that relies on massive amounts of firepower to win having a walker unit that can only carry one weapon on it with a BS of 3 just doesn't seem right. I was thinking of a walker with two autocannons on one side and a battlecannon or twin-linked lascannons on the other side. It would also have twin-linked heavy bloters on the front and its armor would be F13, S13, R11. The unit would be all about fire power and would keep the BS 3. It will have a WS 3, I 3, and A 1 with a S6. Not sure yet about special rules or if any would be needed. Point wise I was thinking around 140 to 160 to allow a player to bring in a nice amount of fire power with out spending to many points.

I think it would be cool for the Imperial Guard to have walker with large amounts of fire power like the one in the resistance series or the Star Wars At-At.

I would like to hear what you think and what you think could be done differently or changed.

Is this a joke?

You want a a vehicle, with better armor and weapons loadout, that can move and fire and fight in cc for less than the cost of an Annihilator Predator?

No I said a walker that is not a vehicle at all. So what I want is a better walker.

For a shooty walker you can always look up the Mortis Dreadnought for a good example. All you need is to take the Mortis, drop its WS, BS and I to 3 (around -15 points, so it will cost 90 points) and replace its weapon options with IG weapons (TL multi-lasers, Exterminator autocannons, even some sort of "bastion-breacher shell" cannon for a top tier weapon).

So i will do it something like this:

VIGILANCE 90 POINTS

Vigilance WS3 BS3 S6 FA12 SA12 RA10 I3 A1

Composition:
• 1 Vigilance

Unit Type:
• Vehicle (Walker)

Wargear:
• Two missile launchers
• Smoke launchers
• Searchlight

OPTIONS:
• May replace any of its missile launchers with:
- Twin-linked heavy bolter or twin-linked multilaser 5 points each
- Exterminator autocannon 15 points each
- Twin-linked lascannon 25 points each
- Inferno cannon 30 points each
- Heavy cannon (bastion breacher shell) 35 points each
• May take any of the following:
- Pintle-mounted heavy stubber or storm bolter 10 points
- Hunter-killer missile 10 points
- Extra armour 15 points
- Camo netting 20 points

My armies:
14000 points

I like that a lot though being able to put on something like a battle cannon would still be something that I would like to see, but something like the VIGILANCE would be better cool to have in the Imperial Guard army.

If you want a battle cannon, you should probably put it as the only big weapon on a walker. Walkers aren't as stable as tanks even in 40k, until they get to be titan sized.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Walkers ARE vehicles; vehicles that can move 6" and fire all weapons, and engage in CC

On the walker I was thinking that its size would be like that of a Chaos Defiler or Soul Grinder. In which case the Defiler is large enough to carry a battle cannon and other weapons, but I can see your point.
