hi, so im compleatly new to whfb, but find myself with a reasonable amount of high elves, but no idea where to start making a list, if someone could help me put together say a 1000 and a 1500 point list itd be greatly appreciated. heres what i have:
noble on griffon - from iob
mage from iob
mounted prince/noble with gw
bsb
10 seaguard (hopeing to convert them to reg. spearmen)
30 archers
20 spearmen
10 swordmasters
8 silver helms
5 reavers
2 bolt throwers
and a lion chariot

sorry for the total lack of knowledge here, but at my flgs, their starting a warbands league, which i hope tolearn the game in, starting at 1000 pts, thanks in advance

30 archers

10 swordmasters
and a lion chariot

30 spearmen with some command 300pts
30 archers with musician 340pts
10 swordmasters banner of sorcery and maybe a musician 200pts
mage level 2-4 depending on your point size of game with a magic item or two
bsb with armor of caledor and ward save or rerollable 2+ armor and great weapon 168pts
that's about 1200-1400 depending on your mage level.

You can shoot, magic and fight a little bit. Unfortunately HE are all about their specials, you probably need to beef up the swordmasters a bit or convert some archers into swordmasters and maybe look at adding a second special llike Phoenix Guard or White lions

Thanks for the help, yeah, this is just what i ended up with after splitting iob and the battalion, along with some silver helms i got from an auction for 5 bucks lol, i like the swordmasters alot, but what other special would go along with them well?

Firstly I would boost those swordmasters to size where one turn of shooting wont auto delete them.

After I would look into getting some WLs and PG.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

As a basic guideline:
-Take no more than the minimum amount of Core required.
-Only characters that are worth fielding are (Arch)Mages and a Battle Standard Bearer.
-Great Eagles are excellent harassment units and warmachine hunters.
-Sword Masters / White Lions / Phoenix Guard are your primary combat units. I'd invest 25% (at the very least) up to 45% of your total points in these.
