Hi people, i need ideas to base my dark angel on ...?

if you do half as good as your painting it wont really matter what he is standing on

Something red would bring up the contrasts... have you considered making a Mars style basing?

Firstly great paint job personally if you are going for display purpose I would go with some kind of rise at the back leaving the front clear or at least small low detail so not to obscure the miniature.

Maybe some kind of statuette or ornate type piece at the back to draw the eye but not detach from your miniature, cobbled ground or tiled as well nothing over the top get the balance to display piece not absorb it.

Colour wise I would go with earthy tones with a small splash of colour some where on the base just contrast .

I would normally agree with you (chaos renegade fan myself) but the dramatic pose and overall feel to this miniature is more of an interment battle, therefore I would say the arena would be of a grander status.

as i only paint and dont game with the minis this is my problem as they will most prob go up for sale so should i do a base for gaming use.. mmm..???

Perhaps something like this with the base itself recessed into it to allow it to be detached for gaming depending on what whoever buys it wants it for.


Gives that sort of feeling like it should be in some temple ruins or something. The shading of it just seems to give a sort of indoors feel to me.

Indoors definitely but jungle back ground I don't think would work IMHO as it would be to close clash of colours, I like the temple idea maybe some kind of Chaos shrine feel to it that way you could introduce the red as a contrast to the green.


You, could do like n0t_u mentioned but do a 60mm base with the scenery but place the miniature on the 25mm base so it sits in the 60mm base scene and can be removed and used for gaming at the buyers will, this way you can corner 2 interest and widened your buyers
