I've always really like the Mentors. I think their color scheme and background are pretty cool. I was wondering however if it would make sense from their fluff to actually build/paint a mentors army? My understanding is that that they don't fight large open conflicts, and instead loan out specialist units to other branches of the imperium. So does that mean then that they wouldn't be seen in a full 2000 point army?
If that's the case then, would it then make more sense to have a different army with a squad or two or Mentors attached to it?

I think both ideas would workout fine.

The 2000 point could be a unit of Mentors out testing new Imperial experimental equipment. Part of the force could be labeled the testers and the rest could be the security detail to provide security for testers and there to clean up any mess ups.

And putting a couple of Mentor squads in another SM army. Is easy to explain.

Eastern Frontier Exploratores
224th Astra Legion (main army)
628th Praetorian Guard Cohort (wife's army)
827th Auxilia Cohort (ad mech fun)
825th Foderati Cohort (in the beginning army)
1212th Foederati Cohort - Jokaero (cause I like apes with guns)

I hadn't thought of that, makes sense. For now I'll throw some in with my Ultramarines until I can get a larger grouping. Thanks.
