I'm curious to see what stories people have of their precious models being broken/sold/lost or worse and the reaction to finding out.

I'll start this off with what my girlfriend did to my Forgeworld Venerable Dreadnaught after a heated exchange involving me painting. I'd just about finished painting it up, had attatched the banner etc and working on a few last details and had left it to dry while eating dinner. Later that night we had a 'disagreement' about something and ended up dangerously close to my paint station, basically I started to put it away and as I had it in my hand she swiped it and it went flying to the floor. Result = Snapped Banner, 1 Part of the Wing broken, Power Claw arm and Claws broken off and Finally the Dread had been broken in 1/2 between the torso and legs. In the end we patched things up and I fixed him up as good as possible and learnt to stay clear of the paint station area during arguments.

Would like to hear your stories too guys.

Never happened to me. But then my stuff is always packed away because our 3 year daughter loves daddies toy soldiers to the point of breakage.

I cant blame the little bean for breakages but I would have a serious cob on though if the Mrs did, with the sort of face that she would know to apologise PDQ.

A guy I played at Waaaghpaca last year told me the story how his crazy ex destroyed his whole 3 armies of oop minis by feeding some of them into a garbage disposal. Some were burned and some were also tossed, needless to say he got a restraining order.

Me: my Wife has used my brushes and not cleaned them well, and used them in latex paint and gak. means I get to buy new ones...

The worst thing my girlfriend has ever done was belittle my menacing dark eldar by calling them cute.

Nothing's ever happened to my stuff, but .....A friend of mines girlfriend took an army of his, put it in a box, shook it up, then sprayed green paint all over it.

My wife games.

Worst thing she's ever done is to swipe a bit out of my bitz box that i had plans for, and use it as base scenery

My 3 year old LOOOVES daddy's deffkoptas though, and those crappy pre-DE flight stands are too fragile for preschooler use I've redrilled and re-standed those things more times..

I caught my 6 year old zooming aroubd the house with my Razorwing in one hand, making fwoooshing sounds, but i can hardly blame her for that


A friend had an argument with his soon-to-be-ex, and she tossed his army bag into a passing garbage truck, which crushed it before he could get there. 3500 + pts of oldschool DE gone, but the new DE release was a month after, so he's rebuilding with the nicer looking ones..

Sometimes my sister use my brushes to paint something, she have the unpleasant habit of let them into the water cup while she is not using them... So, they fork faster...

My mom once took my playstation 2 (new shine, 1,5 months of use) and threw it to the floor. The damage was irreparable...

Back when I was still living with my parents (in fact, right before I left for university), my mum decided that we needed more room in the house. Without asking me, my models were arbitrarily tossed in the trash.

That was really painful, as the collection contained not just my figs, but also several Airfix model ships and planes that I had spent a long time putting together and painting up.

When I first started I did my spraying on the floor of my bedroom.
It was xmas and my mam told my sis to turn on the candle on my window sill.
So she walked into my room in the dark and stomp on my models.
Total accident but still the worst catastrope to ever befall my mnis.

I had just built a metal Bretonnian lord on Hippogryph. The only place to store it without damaging it at the time was the cup holder of my car. Because of its size it stuck up about 3 inches over the cup holder so it was fairly obvious.

My fiancee tried to place a glass cup in the cup holding, when it wouldn't fit she looked down and the model and stuck it with the glass cup HARD twice before simply setting the glass cup on top of it.

My crazy ex-GF when I was in the army broke into my barracks room (yes in an MP Barracks) and smashed half of my full Ultramarine 2nd Company with my spare nightstick when I away for me grandmother's funeral. My neighbor heard the racket and scared her off.

Nothing. I wouldn't be around someone that was so flying rodent gak crazy they would intentionally break my things.

My cat has knocked a few models on the floor, but no harm has happened...yet.

My little brother once had to bring 3 things that were important to him to school for "show and tell" one of the things he chose was one of my metal chaplains because he really liked spending time with me and playing 40K with his big brother.

While at school it was knocked off his desk and broken, and then lost or possibly stolen.

He was quite upset; since it was my model and he hadn't asked me to borrow it (I was away at university).

There is a picture that was taken of him with his three special things (now two special things), all the other kids were smiling in their pictures, but he was barely holding back the tears in his. So what was supposed to be a special day for him turned into one of the worst days in his life.

He couldn’t even tell me himself so my mom phoned me instead.

I felt pretty bad for him, and also quite touched that he loved our 40k sessions enough to make it one of his three special things.

Needless to say I completely forgave him and gave him a hug when I saw him next. Finding out that he loved me that much was worth way more than one little metal marine.

Also he later found the chaplain (still broken) in an outer pouch of his backpack! One drop of superglue later and it was back to granting “litany of hate” to my crusader squads and assisting in the killing of his orks.

I once had a ex who could paint better than I could ever dream of. Needless to say that did not last long

My cats like to drink my paint water and bat my minies around, once one of them batted 10 of my bloodthirsters onto the floor where they were devoured by my puppie (i was asleep at the time) I was only able to salvage 4 :(

My cats used to bite the heads off my lego men and bat them around the floor.

The same cat used to eat spiders... not sure if there was a correlation.

I like my cats, but man, they're pretty dumb, the one is like the biggest stoner cat ever, (we got him from a shelter) he's like borderline comotose I have no idea how he has enough brains to keep his heart beating, but he's really nice, any way sorry to get off topic

I have sacrificed many d12s to the Gods Under the Fridge.

I'm not sure why the cat prefers d12s to d20s, maybe d20 rolls too well. At least it keeps her from the models.

However,
When I first procured the wiener dogs I had ahabit of using a breakfast tray and painting on the tile in the front room. Paint a little, pet dog on either side of me. However wiener dogs are jealous.
-Rodney the weiner drank all the paint out of a bottle and ran off with two chaos knights NOM NOM when I stepped off to grab some coffee.
-TBone was displeased that I was not paying enough attention and throwing the ball enugyh whilst painting. TO express this he wattled over and peed on the tray, the minis in the tray, the mini I was holding, and me, all the while barking at me. You don't tick off TBone the Terror.

If only to say that I have looked death in the face...

I usually ask my girlfriend to give painted models a once over before I seal them, sort of a "different set of eyes thing".

She dropped my Earthborn Dire Troll from about 5 feet up onto polished cement by accident.

The model was fine but for some paint on the forhead, the floor however had a 1/4 inch chip in it.

That model's a beast, can't help but smile every time I have it preform a Head-butt power attack.

Worst that ever happened to me was my mom throwing my centerpieces of my tau army including a forge world battle suit off my dresser and then curb stomping all over them my room. 5 battlesuits and a forge world piece gone. Ill admit, I was pretty much in shock at that point. She then went into the computer room and torn my monitor cables out of the CPU and dropped it down the stairs. Before finally she broke my key board over the railing. That was a bad night

They dont do anything because they are very afraid not to get their own things smashed up in return, hehe.
But most do claim their space wolf grey looks better then my salamanders green in an never ending circle of debate.

Dont tell me you guys actually let them get away with this?
If anyone did that to me his or her (I dont care, I´m all for equality) majority of frontal teeth and possibly also entire jaw would need serious and I mean serious, lenghtly and very costly surgical replacement work.

Accidents is something else and I had almost all my army smashed up twice by accidents, tough luck and no hard feelings but if anyone and I dont care who, where and why, deliberately ruined something as personal as this of mine they would end up in hospital regretting their actions for months to come.

Dude. There is definitely a lot more to that story, but I'm sorry for your loss.

To be fair in my instance, I'm NOT about to go beat up my mom , no matter what she does.

I had a FW Chaos beast. Its front jaw had come off.

My wife thought it was 'broken' so, she binned it.

'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!'

She also dropped a box full of chaos metals into the recycling. I still remind her of my five juggernaunts, dread and all metal chaos marines being burnt at the local centre.

Wow some of you guys have some crazy women in your lives. Luckily, my gf hasn't done any harm to my minis. The worst thing she's come is threatening to shake up my bits containers and mix all the bits when I'm not at home. I'm somewhat OCD and have all my bits neatly arranged in small containers - she just says that to get a rise outta me.

Don't even think about it. An angry mom won't kill you...completely. You'll just wish you were dead.

Several years ago I got into a fight with my current at the time girl friend. I tend to ignore screaming, ranting women, which apparently makes them scream and rant even more.
So when I wouldn't respond to her she started picking up the sergeant models in my blood angel 3rd company and snapping all the banners off...

The damage seems minor, but those banners are a pain to fix!
