Here is what I have to play with:
Orc Boss on Wyvern
Orc Boss on Boar
Black Orc Boss BSB
Orc shaman
30 Arrer boyz plus full command
36 Orc boyz with shields, full command
18 Boar Boyz with shields, full command
30 Black Orcs plus full command
2 Orc Chariots
One Skull Pass set:
Night Goblin boss with great weapon
Night goblin shaman
2x 20 Night goblins with spears, full command
20 Night Goblin archers with full command
10 Spider Riders with full command
Please recommend me army builds and minimal purchase additions to the above.
I have two Mangonel on the way, to which I will add crew to make my Rock Lobbers, and am looking to invest in some fanatics, about four, and an Arachnarok spider. Other than that I am done here.
My starter list:
ORC and GOBLIN ARMY 2000pts
LORD 343pts
Orc Warboss 343pts
Armour of Destiny, shield, Choppa of Striking, riding a Wyvern.
- I like big monsters and I cannot lie.....Though I wont be using one all the time.
HERO 365pts
Black Orc Big Boss 145pts
Battle Standard, Talisman of Endurance, heavy armour, assorted choppas
- Obligatory BSB, made a black orc for reliability where needed
Orc Shaman 135pts
Level 2, Power Stone, Opal Amulet, choppa
- Converted an arrer boy.
Night Goblin Shaman 85pts
Level 2
- Skull Pass shaman with voodoo stick
CORE 764pts
Orc Boyz 274pts
34 orc boyz, light armour, choppas, shields. Full command.
- Cheap 6th edition boxset orcs converted to have shields. BSB and shaman here.
Orc Arrer Boyz 240pts
30 orc boyz, light armour, choppas and bows. Full command.
- Cheap 6th edition boxset orcs as is.
Night Goblin Shootas 90pts
20 night goblins, bow, knife. Full Command
- Skull Pass gobbos.
Forest Goblin Spider Riders 160pts
10 Forest goblins, spear, shield, incy mincy. Full Command.
- Standard Skull Pass fare, shaman .
SPECIAL 529pts
Black Orcs 359pts
27 Black Orcs, heavy armour, various choppas. Full Command.
- Would be more but points were tight.
2 Boar Chariots @85pts (170pts)
- 6th edition again.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

I'm generally iffy on the idea of Opal Amulets. They cost a pretty penny for a one-shot 4+ Ward Save.

Two Shamans, and neither has a - Scroll of any sort?

You can drop the Champion, all he adds to the unit is +1 attack. You always want to have the Shaman forced to the rear rank when you refuse a challenge (simply so that it's harder to kill him) unless he would normally be outside B2B (as a NG Shaman on foot seems odd thrown in with Spider Riders, so I assume they're here).

Again, Champion is a bit iffy, but here I can at least understand it as he might distract a combat character and soak up a ton of should-be kills on the Spider Riders.

They need shields, even if only for Shooting protection. Furthermore, I'm generally iffy about the B-Orc Champion's price versus what he's upgraded to (as well as the fact he's taking away from a Magic Standard for the unit).

Mia culpa it was supposed to be an Obsidian Amulet not an Opal Amulet, I even paid the Opal Amulet price so no excuses. Magic resistance would follow onto the unit of orcs he joins. Not a bad deal IMHO.

Too many toys to buy. I find the worst magic will be cast irresistably anyway via bucket of dice. Magic resistance is a better deal.

Point taken on the shaman and challenges. That is something I will remember if I run the night goblin shaman in a night goblin unit.
Normally I hate skimping on command groups for aesthetic reasons, though in this case the shaman would become the units leader.
As it so happens neither course is necessary if the shaman joins the arrer boys. The arrer boys have better leadership and are infantry so Look out sir still works however as base sizes are different th shaman adds to a cornef. This means better LOS to targets, artillery snipe only effect one model, and if he fumbles fewer heads explode.

Again if they are orky enough to join my Waargh they are orky enough to get full command. On a minimaxing points night goblins especially should avoid command groups, it is a third of the unit price at 20 gobbos. however in that case I will still not do so, in the case of spider riders, I will go as far as to say I fancy their chances against many opponents and deserve a full command to get the most out of them. As you guessed he can tie up a character in a challenge rather than have him chop up several of his buddies.

I will look into shields, but I will not model them, I am having enough trouble assembling Black Orcs so they rank up without adding extra bulk.
Swapping the champion for Standard of Discipline sounds good though my usual caveat applies.
