Escalation List 500pts

Hi fellow Orcs and Goblin Fans. I've entered into an escalation league and wanted to get some thoughts on some of the army lists I've come up with.

Looking forward to hearing any responses.

Hero:
Black Orc Big Boss
- Enchanted shield
- War Boar
Total 111 pts

He will start with my unit of Orc Boyz ( Big'Uns) to save from any failed animosity as well as have some protection. He'll leave it as necessary if, as I move up, there are war machines, casters, etc that need to be charged at and dealt with.

He will also be very hard to kill since he'll roll on 2+ to save but when taking into consideration Strength modifiers then those are taken from his 1+ armor save. Heavy Armor, Enchanted Shield and War Boar give him 1+ A.S.

Core:
20 Orc Boyz
- AHW
-F.C.
-Big'Uns
Total 215pts

This unit will, for the most part, act as my hammer as best as I can manage it.

26 Night Goblins
- Spears and Shields
- 2 Fanatics
- Standard Bearer
Total 138pts

This unit will, for the most part, act as my anvil as best I can manage it. It will move ahead of my Big'Uns and head in the direction of what appears to be the biggest threat that I can release my Fanatics into. If I see my opponent deploying anything that could potentially cause my unit to release early, I'll readjust my Orcs Big'Uns to defend at a proper distance in the front as both units will then move up together.

Special:
Goblin Spear Chukka
Total 35pts

Simply to pick off any of my enemies war machines, or multi-wound model units / war machines, or at the very least wittle down his rank and file guys for the time my own guys can get in there and charge.

Total 499 points.

Escelation League 1,000pts

Lord:

Black Orc WarBoss
- War Boar
- Enchanted Shield
- Dawn Stone
- Crown of Command
Total 249pts

Heroes:

Orc Shaman
Total 65pts

Night Goblin Big Boss
- BSB
- Light Armor
- Shield
Total 59pts

Core:

21 Orc Boyz ( Big'Uns)
- AHW
- FC
- Big'Uns
Total 224pts

41 Night Goblins
- Spears and Shields
- Musician
- Standard

Special:

13 Black Orcs
- FC
- Shields
Total 204pts

Goblin Spear Chukka
Total 35pts

Sticking the WarBoss with the Big Uns. Horde of Night Goblins coming down the middle, Big'Uns and Black Orcs on either side coming down as well to use one or the other as a hammer to the NG Anvil. Depending on what my opponent fields the Black Orcs may go monster chasing and my War Boss may charge out mid table to hit up some war machines / lone casters if any.

Escelation 1,500pts

Not too sure about this list. I might take out the Ruby Ring of Ruin and put those points into a couple more Orc Boy Big'Uns. The idea behind the Ring was to upset anything that took negative affects from fire.

Lord:

Black Orc WarBoss
- Armor of Silvered Steel
- Talisman of Preservation
- Iron Curse Icon
Total 255pts

Hero:

Black Orc Big Boss
- Shield
- BSB
- Armor of Destiny
- Ruby Ring of Ruin
Total 192pts

Orc Shaman
- LvL 2 Wizard
- Dispel Scroll
Total 125pts

Core:

19 Orc Boyz (Big'Uns)
- F.C.
- AHW
- Big'Uns
- Banner of Eternal Flame
Total 216pts

40 Night Goblins
- Spears and Shields
- 3 Fanatics
- Netters
Total 240pts

Special:

15 Black Orcs
- FC
- War Banner
- Shields
Total 265pts

Orc Boar Chariot
Total 85pts

Goblin Spear Chukka
Total 35pts

Rare:
Goblin Rock Lobba
Total 85pts

For the beginning of my first few turns my WarBoss will be with my Big'Uns to help with Animosity. My BSB will be with my Night Goblins also for Animosity and mid table they'll both be with my Big'Uns. If the Big'Uns unit is taking a beating by mid table, then they'll jump ship to the Black Orcs.

Again using Hammer and Anvil Tactics here with my NG's as my Anvil and Orc Big'Uns and Black Orcs as my hammers. Looking to increase combat resolution with my Black Orcs with the War Banner and my Big'Uns by having my WarBoss when ( if) he pops WAAAGH! and my BSB in that unit as well offering an extra +1 to C.R.

My War Machines will snipe Monsters, other War Machines and casters as needed, while my Boar Chariot will be determined to either also help in that area or work at some flanking on its own.

I may remove the Ruby Ring and get more Big'Uns. I'll most likely give my Blorcs the Flame banner and my Big'Uns the War Banner. Incase any monsters around then I would rather my Blorcs hit them up, especially with the flame banner if any of those monsters are affected by it.

Considering a Standard on my NG unit as well.

For the 500 point list, I don't think you need to spend that many points on a black orc boss. I know the animosity sucks, but 111 is a little over 1/5th of your list. That's not leaving a lot of room for guys to do the fighting.
At least drop the boar because even at 500 you'll see cannons/stone throwers, and other war machines that can ruin the warboss' day with a failed "look out, sir!" roll.
You probably don't need big'uns at this level either. More plain orcs with choppa/shield will do just fine.

At 1000 I'd would drop the lord level black orc. If you want lord level, take a goblin great shaman.
You'll need magic protection at this level either way. If you just downgrade your lord back to a hero, you can pick up a goblin shaman.
Both black orcs and big'uns are pretty expensive at this level too. I'd downgrade the big'uns to boyz again, and just run more boyz here too.

You 1500 list doesn't look that bad, but again; too many heroes, add more boyz.

For your plans; night goblins are not a good anvil in a horde formation. If you want them to tar pit, give them netters, and run them deep in ranks. You'll also need about 35+ with HWS.

Over all, not a bad list. Just watch for dwellers, and good luck.

Cause the chicks dig it...
