with his wep skill of 6, bs of 5, 3 wounds and initiative 5, reroll to hit, granting fearless, hitting at strength 6 with a power wep which forces sucsessfull invul saves to be rerolled. plus he has a jump pack and 4+ invul save. did i forget to mention his abillity to give everyone the red thirst on a 3 and down, instead of just 1?
I think he is worth it!

I like him. I. Like his model. Only issue is that he is an independent character and can be singled out in close combat and instant killed.

He's a beatstick HQ that can be ID'd by a Power Fist. In addition, you pay for special rules that either help you build a bad list (remove 0-1 DC limit) or that just don't help that much (buff to Red Thirst). He really isn't worth it.

The Red Thirst buff isn't worth much because you either run a list that isn't focused on CC, like mech BA, or you want Priest support, which mostly counterfeits the value of the Red Thirst. Fearless might be worth a little, but it's a double-edged sword and not worth a ton.

I've always wondered... would astorath, 3 10 man squads of Death Company, and 3 stormravens be a decent army?

Seems like it would be fun at least....

It would suffer from the usual problems with an all-DC army, the chief one being you have to table your opponent to win two-thirds of the time.

QFT, however they are a hella lot of fun to play

1750 list

Astorath

3 x 10 DC

3 x DC dread

3 x Stormraven

Step 1: full speed to opponent
Step 2: drop all units
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit
