Hello my fellow dakka readers.

Well. It's been somtime now since I started my spacewolf project.

I come from sweden, So I have a thread on a swedish 40k forum (www.svenska40k.se).
But it's not that many who visits that forum, so I will try here and hopefully I will get some input and help here instead.

So. Here goes.

When I started my army, I was obsessed with Thunderwolf Cavalry. Since I thought the model idea's was so damn cool.
But there aint much to choose from on the wolf front, Wich made me think of marines riding on something else. First thought was
to make it more like chaos, Some renegade company of SW who had been lured to the chaos gods. Or something similar.
But, Parhaps when playing with such an army, those few negative people would complain on my "counts as" models.

Then I got a different idea, Actually, from the Golden compass. Those awesome bears wich armour. Would it not be cool to find those.

So, After some searching arround, I got hold of just what I looked for. So. This is what I've done so far. Hope you like it.
Write down what you think, What should I change. Ideas. Anything that could improve my skills in modeling/painting etc.

So, this is my first build. 2 rhinos/Razorbacks. 1 Predator, 4 wolf guards.
All my WG's will have cloaks.

WG's

Back of Wolfguards

Pack of SW's

Rough idea of my color scheme

Ok. So this is what they urned out to look like when i decided my color scheme, White armour witch camo green lower legs and shoulderpads.

Backside of same model.

Allmost ready.

Building my first "Thunderbear Cavalry" model.

So, here we have a Terminator witch cycloneML and a Grey Hunter with flag. (Flag is magnatised)

WG's got some base colors and a wash.

Started to paint a Speeded. (UUUUGLY paintjob) I will have to go back on this one to repaint it.
It's the first vehicle i've painted in white. It's damned hard to get it to look good.

so, Here a quite bad pic of my Lord on mount with his ragtag pack behind him.

Another pic of the cavalry

A Runepriest with a Chooser of he slain at his feet. I see one of my longfangs has sneaked in too.

Side pic of my Cavalry Lord

So. At this point, I've decided to remake my army's scheme. No more superfine highlights as the marine shown a few pics up.
i wanted them to have been on a planet, fighting for a long time, without time to be able to repaint or clean their armours.
So, away with the highlight and in with some mud. This is how they turned out.

Terminators was the first ones to get a paintjob done. These pictures are from painted to battle scared and then pigmented and "dirted" down.
Front

Back

At this point, I decided that all REAL heroes have red cloaks

So, I repainted them.

This one has not got some battle dmg

Backside

Three cheering me on!!!!

Pigment, Aka dirt is on.

Finished pack, from and back

Cloaks need some more work.

So, that is all so far. I've just now started with my rhino. I will update my progress in the weekend.

Hope you like it. And again. Please coment and write somethoughts down if you have time, It's not for my ego.
But more eyes are better then my own two.

Cheers.

Besides me saying that the color scheme looks great and the basing is awesome, I have gotta ask where did you get those bears from? those look great and its so much better than the chaos Juggernauts. I want to see more of what you are doing.

The only thing that i can say in a kinda negative light, is your terminators look funky, you have one with a great base and the other ones are just plain. Is there a reason behind this or do you not want them on a scenic base? Kinda confused me. Also an army list of what you are running would be great. It would give us something to look forward to, as you up date your page.

The reason for the scenic base on the terminator with CML, is that at first, my whole army was supposed to have them. But it turned out to be too expensive to do that.
And So, That one is actually just a CML termie that was supposed to join a long fang squad. And my longfangs are mounted on such scenic bases.

The regular bases on the four terminators was a quick job to get 4 terminators with stormbolter and power fist. I used them as regular marines. (Meaning I played a tournament with Kantor and 4 terminators slogging with him)

I can quick write up my current armylist in progress.

3 squads with 6 longfangs, all with missile launchers.
2 dakka dreanoughts. (Contemptor pattern)
2 rhinos filled with 9 grey hunters. 2 meltas p-fist and a flag. and a priest with living lightening and jaws in each rhino
2 razorbacks with 6 grey hunters without anything special.
1 drop pod with 5 wolf guards 3 meltas 3 fists and 2 p-wep bolter.
3 wolf guards with p-wep and cyclone missile launchers, joining each pack of long fangs.
I will use 2 thunderbears as 2 lonewolves with thunderhammer and stormshield.

Cryb.

okey, Just placed an order from FW, 2 Contemptor dreadnoughts. They will be converted into a running pose, 2 sets of arms, 2 x twin-linked autocannons and 2 CCW if I was to make a rush army.
Just wanted you to know

Mjello!

What i do is, I prime all in white, Paint camo green and a few other basecolors, Wash whole model with gryphone sephia. Repaint the green and gold trim and i "flood" the model with white.
"Flood" meaning = Mix white with ALOT of water and go over the armour.

Any thoughts?

Your color Scheme is different but I like it. Also those bases you did with the sticks are not bad. Over all I would say this is a whole lot better looking then quite a few armies I have played against.

Hey all you dakkites!

Been away for quite some time, due to the fact that i think I paint ugly and I lost the urge.
All minis look so baaad up close, and it realy sticks to me... Ugh.

Just painted this one, Looks quite good when i hold it.
But maaaan, I hate it in the photo. Is it only i who have that problem?

Please, tell me something nice. i REALY need positive feedback. Makes me want to send all my minis away for comission painting.

OK, not gonna lie, I literally saw those warbears and started pricing out how much a space wolf army would cost me. Really cool army.
Also don't get too down from pictures man, if you're not painting to GD standard then they're always going to look awful in pictures. My thoughts are if they look good in real life then screw the pictures lol

Hey hey !

Thanks for all the kind words.

So. 6'th ed is out, And I desperatly need to get my army "done" by the 12'th of september.
Got a big tournament coming up.

Aaaaanyway.

Got started with some longfangs today.
10 ML dudes.3 regular and 7 converted.
I thought I'd throw in a little tutorial on how I do ML if I cant get hold of the real'f'n'deal.

Here goes

First. This is the longfang legs.
I started with assembling the legs and made bases, just cause I'ts alot easier to paint them in "parts"

Allright. Tutorial time.
I start of with the " Hunter Killer missile thingy from Rhino/razorback/Predator kit.
Cut those out, and glue together.(Cuting off the "aim" parts.

Then I allso take the arms from the turret mounted marine. cut it out and keep the left arm.

Now I got these parts, plus an shoulderpads from the faction you play, in my case, a spacewolf shoulderpad.

Glued together, looks like this. Not too shabby if you ask me.

thoughts anyone?

Oy!

Just finnished touching up a dread. Unfortunatly, I somehow missplaced the pics from converting and assembling.
Anyways, It's painted.

Too much dmg and "roughed up"?

Any thoughts?

Both negative and possitive helps alot. Makes me a better 40'k'er?
