I am looking for a second army, I am seriously considering DoC as my second army. One of the reasons is that I can use the models for a 40k Army. Second reason is that I am looking for a evil aligned army (main army is Dwarfs), and you cannot get anymore evil than Deamons. The problem is that I know VERY little of about this Army, both in WHFB and WH40k. I have played Deamons probably 3 times in 40k (I used to play IG), and never in Fantasy. So I have a couple of questions for you guys. Keep in mind that the 40k related questions are just for curiosity, my main focus is WHFB and 40k would be something I would do if I show up at my FLGS and cant find a Fantasy game.

1. Is it viable to run a Mono-God Army in either WHFB or 40k?

2. How effective is DoC in 8th?

3. What are some of the things you normally see as broken in both a bad and good way with this army?

4. When do you think it will get an updated book?

5. Were I to get the army brand new how much would you expect to pay for a Mono-God or Bi-God model count to field a viable (tournament wise 2400ish points) army?

6. How does it differ in viable models from Fantasy to 40k?

7. Is it effective in 40k?

8. Which God's are the most favored in tournament play? Why?

Well that is it for now, I thank you greatly.

Grix.

1) An all Khorne won Waaaghpaca so yes. (74 player 2k GT) 40k it's hard to do mono god, but possible.,

2)I finished tied for 9th in same tourney, but I got bad match up game one, against a really really good empire player on a crappy table, but my weekend was up hill from there. In the past year I've finished in the top 25% at every tourney I've attended except ard boys finals, my luck was total poor, worst day of dice rolling ever.

3) Good way: Special characters, flamers.
Bad way: blood crushers over costed(or need a 3rd wound) most lvl 4's in the game are a 3rd of the cost of yours.

4) Personally I think it will be 2-5 years out. It's still solid, nothing I'd really complain about other that the choices of magic standards, If DOC can't duplicate, can we at least get access to the book ones?

5) at 2.4k you want 3 combat blocks 30ish in number, a greater daemon, and a few accessory units. I'd say a khorne Tzeentch list is possible but I like daemonettes and fiends too much to leave slaneesh.

6) in some regards yes, I think that plague bearers are great in 40k for objective camping, but useless in fantasy outside of a epidumus list. fiends are great in both and so are flamers, also bloodcrushers.

7) hmm Dunno I have not played mine in 40k in over a year and a half. The whole deep strinking thing was fun, but now it just frustrates me.

8) I see mixes often I run a block of daemonettes, bloodletters, a smaller block of horrors, a blood thirster and 2 solo fiends at 2k with a herald in each block. Each unit has their specialty. And applying the right unit to what suits them best in a 5 game tourney allows them to do well.

North of your position

Mono-chaos god is uneffective in 40k.

In 40k, this are some of the things you usually see.

HQ
- Fate weaver: really good if you build you army around it. Use blood crushers and Daemon Princes
- Herald of Tzeench on a chariot with bolt: Fast and it kills stuff

Troops
-Plague bearers: very durable. usually hang back and take objectives.
-Pink Horrors with bolt: Can shoot when they land and can take out tanks.

Elite
- Blood crushers: hard to kill but slow
- Flamers: Great, especially if you can drop them off an icon
- Fiends: Lots of attacks, high Str and rending

Heavy
- either one is a good choice

Fast
- a bit weaker than the other FOC's, but some people like seakers or screamers

Probably your best bet for Mono-god in both 40k and fantasy would be Slannesh, but it would not be easy.
In 40k you can use the Seakers and Fiends to take out tanks, then start mopping up the infantry. You also have Fleet and 12" charges so you can get into combat faster.
Slaanesh would work decently in Fantasy as well.

Mono-god armies are viable but depends on the god I'd rank them
Khorne
Slaanesh
Tzeentch
Nurgle

Their still pretty nails but their not pretty much auto-win like they were in seventh, you actually have to try now

hordes of bloodletters/daemonettes are nice, bloodcrushers are fairly decent but flamers are still unbelievably good

2013/2014

Depends on what god you go for Nurgle's models are all metal so very pricey (didn't stop me though)

Not sure what you mean on this one

competitive lists in both aren't particularly transferable

Khorne/Slaanesh but if your going magic heavy tzeentch, never nurgle (that's my thing)

hope this helps
