So I just joined a slow grow league where everyone is starting at 500pts. I've played a few games and having trouble with ranged/magic heavy armies. I've run.
Butcher lvl 1 iron fist
5 ironguts
4 leadbellies
The shooting did well but the ironguts are getting mowed down by the time they get to charge.
I was thinking swapping the butcher to firebelly, ironguts to bulls and then adding some Gnoblers to block charges, get in the way and maybe get in 6" and use throwing weapons if they are still alive and or not have been charged. Basically a detergent from charging / tarpit.

At low points you want Bulls, and a Firebelly would be much better then a butcher.
So you might have the following.
Firebelly (potion of speed) 125 pts
7 Bulls (ironfists, Banner, bellower) 244 pts
3 leadbeltchers 129 pts
498 pts total
