Im having trouble deciding on a scheme in which to paint my nids. I found an online painter which helped me narrow down to something like these 3.

Scheme 1:



I quite like this as its a nice variant on the Kraken scheme. It would be based just with sand and a bit of flock - pretty generic.

Scheme 2:



Recently ive found myself loving the idea of a snow army. Maybe this scheme with a bit of snow on the models, with an ice/snow base.

Scheme 3:



Im not overly sure about this scheme - I think it could look good but it looks awfully planty like to me. Would be basing this with a jungle-ish theme.

So dear dakkites, would you be able to give me your opinion on these schemes? Your input would be very much appreciated! Also post up your own schemes if you want, give me some ideas

I like the ice theme, which is not done very often. Maybe with more ice blue instead of turquois.
My own Hive Fleet is a variation of the third one, with slightly different warmer colours. See Blog in my sig.

Actually, that ice scheme IS done rather often: Before settling on a tropical-ish turquoise scheme for my Tyranids, I looked at many of the ice-blue Tyranids out there for inspiration:

As for what I think looks good:

Scheme 2 "Squirtle" looks great.
Scheme 1 "Charmander" looks pretty good too.
Scheme 3 "Bulbasaur" looks meh. Nobody likes Bulbasaur.

Haha, brilliant way to put it! I am quite tempted by 2 ill be honest, the idea of getting all snowed up nids makes me tingle!

Ill maybe just paint up 2 test gaunts in the "Squirtle" and "Charmander" themes and see what it looks like on the model.

I like both the red and green schemes, but I'm not a fan of blue theme myself.

I like 3 best myself. For my Nids I looked to nature for ideas and came up with a paint scheme based on some poison dart frogs. The test Termagant is in my gallery.

Also, what program did you use to make those sample pictures?

Yep...and exceedingly easy to do too.....always an advantage when dealing with Tyranids.

Theres the program there Little_Ripper. Its not great, but if you just use the Hive Tyrant and Warriors it does the job.

I really like the third one, but I'm not a fan of the 1st one, it's looks too much like Hive Fleet Kraken to me.

Thanks Vemores. I've already been using that one, I just didn't realize you could isolate the image like that.

Aye theres a button or something just underneath which says "export this image....something something something."

Got one in the squirtle colour scheme painted up, just going to base it now and get a picture up soon!

That's actually rather similar to my scheme.
Not trying to hijack your thread here by the way.

The skin looks a bit featureless. I circumvented that by applying a fleshy-rosy red where the chitin/armor meets the skin and adding tons of brown spots to give it a more organic look:
