I haven't looked at many DE lists. This is actually what my buddy and I came up with. Seems mean to me.

HQ: Lelith
3 x 10 wyches (whips and nets) w/ hekatrix (w/ agonizer), all with haywire grenades and raiders with flicker field
1 x 8 Bloodbrides (hydraguantlets) with siren all with haywire grenades and raider with flicker field (HQ will be in this group)
2 x 3 Kabalite Trueborns w/ 2Dark Lances, in Venoms with Splinter Cannon
3 x Ravager
1 x 5 Reavers w a Heat Ray
2 x 5 Kabalite warriors with shredder on one (to walk on for objective taking).

Pretty straight forward. Maximize Dark Lances. Wyches for CC. Lots of troops for objective taking.

Comments and criticism please.

EDIT: Took advice and trimmed Trueborns. Added Reavers.

why would you pay for 5 trueborn when only 2 of them can take lances? That's just 36 points not doing anything...

I believe you need 5 to take the lances. Its my friend's codex (this is a list for him) so I'm not positive on that.

Oh, Army builder says its ok.

Youch...she used to be amazing. Now she's not. Go with haemys for the wych squads instead. This will give them FNP making them much more survivable.

Drop one model per wych, then swap the shardnet and impaler for razorflails. You want them to actually be able to survive a combat not just tarpit. Personally I would drop 2 squads for 5 man squads of kabalite warriors. Each squad has a blaster and is in a venom with the extra SC. 3 troops is low in a 1500 point game let alone a 2K list.

These guys can get you some more points for the troops if you need them. Otherwise a small contingent of Incubi will do better IMO since they have PW.

Different than the blasterborn that gets posted all the time. Assuming your friend knows to put the kabalites in terrain and use the venoms as gunships this will work fine.

Ugh...no. EIther 3 Reavers with a Heat Lance or blaster or 5 Scourges with 2 of the afformentioned special weapons. You are paying for the bodies so why not get the weapon?

Uh...here are some of those warriors that I was talking about. Just swap the shredder for a blaster (shredders aren't that good.) And get them a transport. Never try to footslog small squads of warriors. Personally I don't footslog at all with DE.

Actually you were light on Dark Lances. The minimum is 1 DL for every 100 points. That again is the MINIMUM in the army. Wyches are ok at CC but maximise their potential. A squad of wyches and a squad of Incubi is all a decent DE list really needs. 5 troops is light, especially when 2 of them a) footslog and b) are in reserve. You really need 6 in transports from the get go.
Trueborn go 3 ways 1) 3 dudes w/ 3 blaster 2) 4 dudes w/ 4 blasters 3) 3 dudes w/ 2 DL. You never need more than this with AT trueborn.

If you look at reavers and then scourges you will notice they are the same cost. Then notice it takes 6 reavers to get 2 special weapons while scourges need only 5. If it's getting there then consider that it will take both of us (using blasters) to get into range. You turbo turn one then move and shoot turn 2. (Assuming a 12" deployment zone per person this isn't unreasonable at all. Now assume the same thing with scourges. 12" in, 12" move turn one and turn 2 gets you 36" across the board with an 18" range gun. Why pay more for less?

Oh never trust army buildier. It's right this time but you really need to have a codex with you when building the lists and just use army builder as a convienence for presentation.

Thanks for the help! I'm only very intermediate myself, and I don't play DE. My friend has only played a few games, and that was with Nids. Its the blind leading the blind!

Good. Definitely consider including a haem per wyche crew to give FNP to start with. Lilly out, and 3 wyches out to make room on the boat ought to give you at least two dudes.

Down grade 'em to wyches. They're cheaper, do pretty much the same job as BloodBs and score. BloodBs are just really over priced for wyches can do too. Also, it frees up an Elite slot for Trublasters.

DLs are very bad, being Heavy 1, compared to Blasters being Assault 1. Go blasters so you can either Move Combat Speed and shoot or Move the boat Cruising and disembark and shoot for a longer reach.

Ah, I get what you were going for. However, look at it this way: Don't maximize your "Dark" lances, but your "lance" weapons. That is, the blasters Trueborn can have, being Assault 1, not Heavy 1 (Dark Lances).

As is, your list has 18 "lance" weapons. I squeeze in 24 at 1850 -
3 raiders (haem/wyche boats) - 3 lances
3 Venoms with 4 Trublasters each -- 12 lance weapons, 15 so far
3 ravs - 24 lances

Sometimes my last two venoms pack a Warrior crew with a blaster so I could have 26 lances at 2k.
