Hi Dakkanoughts! More of my background for the Vengeance Marines (or Fists of Vengeance, or Vengeance Chapter...). I was going for a clerical report kind of feel, like a snarky administratum clerk wrote it. Hope you enjoy, please comment!

Notes:
[history, ecology]
Though few traces remain, S-2 was originally colonized as an agricultural world. A human population of several million ran minimum-tech agrifarms in the large flatlands of the main continent. A temperate climate, adequate resources, and relatively secure galactic location once helped to produce the foodstuffs for dozens of hive worlds. One small tendril of hive fleet Leviathan changed that forever. Though the Imperial forces which gathered eventually proved victorious, the very face of the planet was forever changed by the xeno spores released in the attack. The entire ecology of the planet has been forever altered. In place of green fields and ordered timber lots, there are wild savannahs and foreboding forests. A very few citizens chose to tough it out in their new surroundings. These men and women learned to adapt and survive in a hostile environment; traits that Ilden Arctos, Master of the Vengeance Chapter was quick to recognize and admire. In addition to initial 'joiners', or full marines from other Chapters, the Vengeance Marines get new recruits primarily from 'The Price' they exact on inhabited worlds, supplemented by hard Salusan natives. The 'Children of Vengeance' brought from the far corners of the Imperium conduct their neophyte training on S-2, so all Vengeance Marines tend to refer to Salusa Secundus and the Iron Moon as 'home', regardless of their place of origin.
[local abnormality]
For unknown reasons, Salusa Secundus produces a very high percentage of twin births (estimated at 70%), and even greater numbers are not unheard of (reports of 'dozens' are obviously exaggerated tales). The Inquisition has investigated, and found no connection between the Warp and the unusual births. It has been explained as a phenomenon which affects human embryos without altering the genetic code itself. Whatever the cause, the harsh living environment makes the fast population growth almost a necessity.
[population allocation]
Those citizens not suitable for Space Marine training often opt for Planetary Defense service, feeling ill at ease serving in the Imperial Guard on other worlds that lack a constant threat. Those that do make the cut at the Astartes barracks have more pressing concerns. The few left who are unsuitable for any military service due to physical or mental abnormality are assigned an appropriate duty based on their abilities. Vengeance Marines do not have an abhorrence to Servitors and servo-skulls, realizing the necessity of such dependable and proven assistance. This means that severely impaired children or badly injured adults are often 'retooled', so no Salusan is ever less than an asset to his fellow citizens. 5th Company's recent rescue of an important Adeptus Mechanicus official has created a deeper bond between Mars and Salusa Secundus, and there has been an influx of high end Imperial technology to the backwater planet since then. Chapter Master Arctos has kept a close eye on exactly what devices make it to his main recruiting world, ensuring that the new technology does not negatively affect his warrior's training. On the other hand, it can be a benefit not having to explain to a new Scout which end of the gun goes toward the enemy.
[economy]
S-2 has come a long way from its agriworld roots, mostly due to the drastic influence of tyranid biospores. There is one spaceport for the use of non-Chapter personnel, well guarded and completely shut off from the planet by towering ceramite walls topped by heavy bolters and girded with heavy flamers. It is from within this sanctuary that privileged traders do business with the Vengeance Chapter Mercantile Guild of Salusa Secundus. The guild consists of a single representative for each major area of trade the planet offers. Aside from Imperial Guard and Space Marine vessels, there are often a great number of free trader ships present, hoping to pass inspection and be allowed to purchase Salusan weaponry. Salusan guns are famed system wide as handcrafted masterpieces. They are generally commissioned for officers of the Guard, though a few Salusan Vengeance Marines carry homeworld-crafted Astartes wargear.
[culture]
The people of S-2 live in the wild jungle itself, shunning the comforts of permanent shelter. Children are taught nearly from birth to fend for themselves and rely on nothing. At the same time, the deadly environment teaches teamwork and loyalty as the child learns that some challenges require assistance. Children not selected for Astartes training at adolescence have an additional few years of education and vocational training, emphasizing survival skills, military strategy, physical improvement, and Imperial doctrine. Other than Cadia, few worlds are so completely oriented toward the perfection of the soldier citizen. Rigorous testing at adulthood separates out most of the population for service in the planetary defense force, with appropriate individuals marked for officer status. The PDF runs the public spaceport and the few defense batteries scattered across and around the planet, as well as the weapons and uniform manufactorums. If S-2 had more facilities, the PDF would be said to 'run everything', but the planet is nearly covered in impenetrable xeno-flora. Guard recruits are selected from amongst experienced PDF troops, who constantly drill planetside, using the mutated lifeforms of their home forests as aggressive and deadly target dummies.

Well that's it, I hope you like it. If you read the whole thing you've got time to comment
